Re: A possible Dogmobile #4?

My 2.2 had a separate tank and internal pump for DPF but had it removed as pump was siezed and cant be replaced as it is sealed inside the tank. New from agent NLA... Had the dpf written out of the ecu as PP2000 was still recording faults and engine check light was on and would go into limp mode, dp...

Re: HOW MANY MILES HAS YOUR PUG COVERED?

Nope, have more or less given up with this. The only way I can see doing it with the current cluster/bsi is to replace the memory chips on both the cluster and in the BSI. Not worth the effort as my propellerhead skills are somewhat lacking when it comes to all things binary... I will try to find a ...

Re: How to undo the auxiliary belt excentric roller bolt?

I have done this brush/commutator replacement on a couple, also found a utube video somewhere but no sign of it right now. Tricky bit is removing the top cover from the regulator assembly to replace the brushes, video helped guide me to eventually get this right... needed a lot of patience on my par...

Re: How to undo the auxiliary belt excentric roller bolt?

That method does not work if you have a clutch pulley. The outer will rotate when you try to undo the centre bolt.

Re: How to undo the auxiliary belt excentric roller bolt?

Sounds good! (pun intended..) :cheesy:

Not ever had a belt jump off with the clutch pulley seized though, just had to tolerate the insane clattering when idling and putting up with looks from motorists alongside..

Re: How to undo the auxiliary belt excentric roller bolt?

Replacing the pulley is a mongrel job... getting the retaining bolt out requires a lot of heat to soften the oodles of locktite holding it in, and a special tool to secure it while trying too undo it. I have more recently gone down the replace pulley route as have had a few secondhand alternators fa...

Re: Having trouble with radiator fan

Fan needs to be 2 speed, ones with only 2 contacts are single speed. Fitting one with only single speed will likely affect proper operation of cooling/aircon so more investigation required. I did fit a 2 speed fan from a BMW into one of my early hdi's and it seemed to work (original was accident dam...

Re: How to undo the auxiliary belt excentric roller bolt?

Nope, alternator clutch pulley, only my very early hdi didnt have one, all the rest have been fitted with them. look like this... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alternator-Freewheel-Clutch-Pulley-588003-VALEO/183561441402?fits=Car+Make%3APeugeot%7CModel%3A406&epid=249336717&hash=item2abd1d507a:g:IXEAAOS...

Re: Biting point adjustment

Lift the pedal up by hand, this will sometimes restore its biting point. I have one that does this occasionally, pedal goes low to the floor, I just hook my foot under the pedal and lift it, brings it back to normal and lasts for weeks before it gets iffy and does it again. If that does not work, bl...

Re: My 2.2 HDi coupe is slow. Doser delete? MAF?

My 2.2 had similar problems, turned out to be a combination of faults. Main ones were the variable vanes on the turbo were gummed up in the mostly "off boost" position and the MAF was faulty. Also, the vacuum system was leaking a bit and the actuator arm (item 71 in the schematic by frog above) for ...

Re: Diagnosing AC issue

If the compressor is latching and spinning up then it will not be too short of gas. As you say you cant feel any difference in temp across the high/low pressure lines at the compressor, this suggests there is a blockage somewhere. Get someone knowledgeable to couple it up to a set of gauges, this wi...

Re: Type of oil

Wag, does your HDi have a DPF? If it does, it is critical that you use the correct spec oil or you will block the DPF. I have used full synthetic in all my HDi's since 2001, either 5w30 or 5w40, but none of my 2.0 ones have had a DPF, only the 2.2's. A couple of my HDi's have more than 650000 on the...
