Re: need advoce maf sensor

I've had several attempts at cleaning these without any success.
It's definitely the MAF - his car runs perfectly with mine fitted and consistently runs two distinct versions of badly with either of the two sensors he has.

Get the PM to renegotiate with the garage?

Was the C4 available with an ordinary manual option? I guess it's an 'automated manual' like the ZF (fr)'Agile' box in my camper.
Strikes me that if so a manual conversion might be possible for less money than the 'investigation' the garage proposed.

I don't think so - isn't it attached to the cat/dpf?

Re: need advoce maf sensor

Thanks for your help. Problem is many owners have reported equivalent parts just don't work properly. I can't work out who made the first two listed above as a search of the manufacturers part no. only finds eBay listings in most european countries, the last two are made by Stark & Ridex. From what ...

Re: need advoce maf sensor

CP4L gets me Product Code: 434735070 Siemens VDO for £116.66 -£14 (DEC12) = £102.66 One for a 2.0 HDi is Product Code: 434735121 Siemens VDO for £83.33 before discount. :( Not convinced the GSF premium is a genuine replacement, I'm having a 'live chat' with them...... 10 minutes, no answer.

Re: need advoce maf sensor

I now find I need a new MAF for my bro's 2.2 HDi. Best offers I've seen so far: £103 from CP4L with discount code £108 from ECP with discount code £100 from GSF on eBay but may not be the real deal, described as "Brand: GSF Premium" £93 for "Genuine VDO" eBAy ref 163183084776, (various other listing...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

Sorry if I've added to your list. I would weigh up the relative cost / benefit of reducing heat loss vs biggerrer stove. The first option is a one-off cost/activity that might be cheap if you happen on suitable materials say over the spring/summer. You have to feed a bigger stove more as well...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

Looking good. That there stove should work wonders. In a perfect world you would keep as much of the flue indoors as possible as you get quite a bit of heat from it - the more you reduce the air flow the hotter the flue gas. I assume you couldn't reasonably have put it somewhere near the centre of t...

Re: Now look who's got a Volvo...

My bro's been expressing some interest in Volvo estates, (my neighbour has one of those V70 4wd jobs). Don't hold your breath though, he'll ponder this for a year or two before deciding Pugs are cheaper. Personally I wouldn't know where to start replacing mine. Latest thought is to wait for plentifu...

Re: need advoce maf sensor

I couldn't agree more. Get yourself a genuine MAF the cheapest way you can, look out for special discounts on ECP or CP4L, (carparts4less which is the same outfit as ECP but often cheaper). GSF seem to offer big discounts off a higher initial price, but worth a look. A good MAF makes such a differen...

Latest odds:

It'll work perfectly on the day 3/1
"They all do that, Sir" 5/2
They'll fix it properly 100/1

I truly hope you get it sorted painlessly, best of luck.

Re: Engine management light

It should only ask you to choose the fuel, (petrol/diesel), then the engine variant. (2.2's are 4HX, 2.0's are either RHY or RHZ if I remember correctly. GM's right as well there are two possible ecu's 2.2's 110's and older 90's have a Bosch EDC15C2, some newer 90's have a Siemens SID something or o...
