Driver Footwell Connector.

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Driver Footwell Connector.

Post by phil832 »

Hi Everyone,

As i don't know much about car electrics, i 'm hoping someone on this excellent forum can help.
The attached photos show a corroded plug connector from driver footwell area, some wires are still attached to the plug.
I need to cut the plug off altogether and reattach the wiring, the only problem is that most code numbers on the coroded orange wires are illegible.(These wires can be seen at bottom at last pic).

The code numbers on the main plug include:

WHITE=B27
YELLOW=B11
BEIGE=520
PURPLE=475
ORANGE=530
LIGHT BLUE =F04C
PINK=K21H
Small orange =3050.

Does anyone have knowledge of wiring looms and connectors, and in particular wiring code numbers.
i do have a haynes manual for pug 406 diesel, but i cannot figure out wiring diagrams etc.

Any help to fix this is greatly appreiciated , Many Thanks

Cheers :)

Phil

I don't think any of us have access to decent diagrams for an early D8 - one possibility, find a similar car in a scrappy & snip off the connector & a bit of loom either side, to get the numbers / layout from?

Hi Dogslife,

Thanks for your reply, and sorry for making this post so late, i have located a plug connector from a local scrapyard, i have checked this wiring,
and it looks near identical to the one situated inside the car, all colour and numbers correspond, so its all good to go ahead and fit.

Many thanks

Hi Lozz,

Not an Aquarium, more like a Duck pond, If i had any more water in there, i could have gone in to have a swim!! :lol:
Eventually sorted the problem, and also drilled new drain holes in sills, there was alot of water in there too.

I have now soldered connector plug onto existing wiring, and everything is working as it should be.

Regards :)

Well done for sorting it out. 8)

It's also nice when people post the eventual outcome, tends to be genuinely helpful to those who follow in your now less-soggy footsteps.
