Struggling to remove the cylinder head! Hdi90
2002 406, DW10, HDi 90. ok so the head went a few days ago, something I have been expecting for a while as the header has been pressurised for a long time now. I have removed just about everything necessary to isolate the head, but I am really struggling with the turbo and / or the bits attached to ...

Re: How do you manage your central heating?
As far as I was led to believe it is not efficient to keep your heating on lower 24/7. You do not want to heat the fabric of your house, as radiators work mostly via convection, so ideally should not be bleeding energy in to the walls and then outside. Far more efficient to turn your boiler on for s...

4th gear change issues!
Just returned from a journey and 4th gear suddenly started acting up! Noticed the change from 3rd to 4th resulted in a crunch, but most of the time the gear stick seems to hit a stop and I have to force it in gear. Other times (less often) it will engage smoothly. This has suddenly come on tonight s...

Re: Turbo issues (late spooling)
I have had this issue on an intermittent basis for a while now and it has gradually got worse to the point I was not getting much turbo action at all! I disconnected my MAF connector and sprayed with Silicon, jiggled the connector a few times... Damn it has made such a huge difference! The car now f...

Looks very home made, remove the glue. I would guess at a remote receiver for stereo or similar?

Re: HDI 90 Alternator belt
Sanden and what now? Dolphin? :-p Yes it is about 10mm apparently but worth getting the right part IMO. Looks like mine is a Delphi so now I know I will try to find a kit off the bay...

HDI 90 Alternator belt
Need to do the Alternator belt and trying to source a good deal. Now Pug themselves have suggested the length of the belt varies depending as to whether I have a Delta or a Sanden(sp?) compressor, so just wondered what others experience is here, as no other supplier seems to ask! Does it matter??

Re: 2.1 td head anyone?
That is bad luck :-( I have the same problem with my 90hdi and am reluctant to strip until I know I can source a new head. Would like to know anyone in the North West area who has a spare and is willing to let it go, I would like to know!
Good luck with yours!

Re: Pressure under oil filler cap
My car does the same thing but I know the head is venting in to the coolant system. Checked the top breather in to the air intake which was clear. I assume there are other pipes I need to check?

Re: Recommend a Contact Cleaner
Regarding terminals, you should be careful with wet and dry on contacts as they are often plated with a protective layer and removal of this will leave the cheaper metal below to deteriorate quicker. Get some Servisol Super 10, however WD-40 is not the demon people make out for electrical contacts!

Re: 2000 com stalk repair?
I have just repaired mine - I would say it is not a job for heavy handed folk but quite doable with a little care. Things to watch out for are not to be too rough on the clipped pivots, and do not bend the contacts on the stalk - Although I had to make minor adjustments to the momentary main beam co...

Re: Clarion Radio FM died :-(
There are some good cheap radios on ebay along with facia plates. I've got a very nice Pioneer complete with a USB input for not much over £40.00. I was a TV engineer for 50 years but I don't think I would bother with trying to repair it, although you sound considerably better equipped than me - I ...

Re: Horn and airbag fault
You have probably damaged one of the cables while undoing the steering wheel release spring. I have done something similar, I made a tool to release the airbag and it slipped and went through both cables to the igniters :-( I have tried soldering but it seems if there is a difference in resistance b...
