Re: Changing glow plugs

I'll check the hand pump as I'm sure I've seen some air bubbles in the fuel pipe although I only have the problem of starting and stopping when the weather is really cold and the car had been sat for a day

Changing glow plugs

Can anybody give me some advice on changing glow plugs on my diesel 2 litre 406. Is it a tricky or fidly job. The car fires and starts up but immediately quits and it takes a good few goes to get it to keep turning over once it's started and not immediately stop. Also the glow plug lights doesn't co...

Re: Power steering failure

It is a two man job! I got the belt and tried fitting it myself but had no idea what to do with the pulley and the tension mechanism. Huge slice of luck as my neighbour pulled up who helped pull back the tension pulley whilst I put the belt on. Job done, much learned. It's always better to work toge...

I tried the old fashioned method of using the wives tights, she took em' off first of course! Didn't work. Was a long shot anyway.

Re: Power steering failure

Thanks, I thought it might cause some major damage like overheating or something seizing up. I've only had the peugeout a year and this is the first belt to go so I thought I'd check first

Re: Power steering failure

How safe is it to drive without the belt? Would it be able to do a short distance journey (12 miles) or would this cause major damage to the engine. I have one ready to pickup tomorrow and need to get to it somehow

Re: Power steering failure

Cheers lads! It's a relief to know it's a relatively simple job. I was fearing it being far more costly. I've ordered a replacement and I'll give it go. Merry Christmas gents and thanks again. :P

Power steering failure

Hi guys, whilst I was driving my 2.0 diesel turbo hdi 406 90 bhp...battery charge fault came up on the screen and the power steering failed. I have managed to get the car home and it still starts up and drives at the moment, although it's a bitch to steer around corners with no power steering. Any i...
