I've just replaced a completely nackered top engine mount - it was the small end that had perished and detached and I couldn't really bodge it - £60 later from the stealer and all done in 30mins 8) I'm guessing it was spilt oil that may have caused it to perish in the first place???

Yeah, push the little button on the end of the wiper stalk - I only use the MPG economy display on mine the rest seem a bit pointless as they just tell you have far you've got left in the tank etc... I like to get 999.99mpg to be displayed when I dont touch the accelerator pedal when going downhill ...

Thanks for the info... However, the problem I have is when I look in the fuse box I dont know what any of the fuses are for - I can see some 40A and 60A fuses but there are also about 10 fuses missing but obviously I dont know if they are supposed to be missing so chances are my fan may not work bec...

Ive got a cream interior thats looking a bit worse for wear! (Seatbelts and armrests look the worse). I have tried cleaning but I thought it made it look worse! :| I've put black mats in which actually look OK. Also from tesco you can buy heavy duty waterproof covers that seem to fit pretty well - t...

Yeah radiator feels warm(ish) at the top but nowhere near as warm as the feed hose (I know this sounds obvious but its a considerable difference and remember my fan isnt working!) I just have the feeling its blocked or not pumping around - all my other cars I've owned in the past its been pretty obv...

Cabin temperature/airflow adjuster I recon - Mine does it sometimes too! Bl00dy hard to tell where it comes from but it always seems to relate to when you start the car (i.e if the temp was set on cold and the climate control is set to Auto it self adjusts etc..)

Just a guess 8)

What engine do you have? I posted a question up a while ago about a strange squeaking noise which actaully turned out to be the tensioner/belt - im still running on the same parts and have done some long trips 500miles+ and this has got me worried - car was booked in tomorrow for service but its bee...

Blue406 - why do you recommend the Castrol GTX oil? I'm on about 107k in my 2.0 petrol - is Castrol the way forward from here do you think? (I've spotted it in Lidl for about £16! 8) ) I've also noticed my car doesn't appear to have an under tray - I can just look under the car and see the oil filte...

Thanks MJB - I have noticed the valve in the cap and it does appear to vent every now and then (I can hear it hissing/squeaking when I stop the car and pop the bonnet) so what you're saying is that even if it was overfilled, it would just self-vent (i.e cold to hot fluid pressure build-up which will...

sounds like you've got a similar mind warping problem to my 2.0 petrol - I first eliminated the fan by removing the front grill and first checking all the wiring, resistors and relays - then the actual fan by measuring the resistance of the motor. All this was fine so I've assumed its the coolant te...

I get exactly the same when cold pulling away in the morning - only noticed it in second gear! Give it a bit of welly and it seems to go away :|

I'm starting to wonder if I've got a cursed 406  (I thought all French cars were cursed TBH!!!)
