Re: Clutch and DMF (preparing to say bye bye...)

I can't comment on the LUK clutch for your car, but I believe it is the only OE option for the 2.2 HDi. I've had two of them fitted to my cars, both are still running fine after 70 and 50k miles respectively. Thanks Doggy, your comment made me go that extra-mile to try and figure things out by myse...

Re: Clutch and DMF (preparing to say bye bye...)

Thanks for the feedback Captain, I also read a lot about the crank pulley when searching for "engine noise" etc and it did seem like the most common issue, and I was already sweating because 2 years ago the crank pulley blew up on me right when I was parking the car at home after a 400mi trip and it...

Re: Virgin Pug owner!

Egr banking plates ordered, gonna tackle the handbrake next month after my holiday...then if I'm feeling brave one day I might break out the soldering iron and have a go at the airbag connectors under the seats. (Airbags scare me!) Being a newbie around these waters myself, I'm going to take this c...

Re: Virgin Pug owner!

Welcome Captain Japseye, Take care of your Pug and he will take care of you, neglect him and you are asking for a nightmare mixed with the Twilight Zone  These excelent cars have a mind of their own and what I like to call "personality", specially when it comes to revenge for something you did/...

292,000 miles and ready for another 100k.
The body of the car will fall to pieces before this engine dies on me

Clutch and DMF (preparing to say bye bye...)

Hi everyone, I placed this question on my "Welcome" post, but given it was in the wrong topic, most likely you missed it (this is me being optimistic  ) So, my clutch started to slip about a month ago on 4th & 5th gears at around 2,000RPM (when fully accelerating), my dear friend (who happens t...

Re: Air bag light.

Thanks for the Tip Buck347,

My old pug as had all sorts of electrical issues, fortunatelly not the AirBag one (yet), so this will be extremelly usefull when that error appears (Yup, IT WILL appear, it wouldn't be French electrics if it didn't).

Re: Hello from Portugal

I know...Sometimes I spend a few minutes going through UK used cars sites and see lovely 406's with not many miles for the price of an used Engine around here  As for the used parts prices, I can only talk about French Cars (Renautl, Peugeot and Citroen) and Volkswagens, although I believe it's...

Re: Windows

Yeah, I figured :cheesy: Just a piece of information that I found when testing my window switches about 2 years ago (if memory doesn't fail me), if one of the switches is at fault, that window won't open. In other words, your Driver Switches can be just fine but if the physical switch from that part...

Re: Engine Diagnostics Warning Light Coming On

Hi Steveo, I'm a newbie around here so you should wait for a reply from one of the experts, but when a simillar thing happened to me it was the campbelt about to "go" (and it did "go" around 1 thousand miles after) and the Engine full of oil was mainly some engine tubes and turbo (although I also fi...

Re: Windows

Hi, I had(well, have...) a problem like that in mine, at least in my case it's the "Windows-Lock" button that it's failing, usually if I press the switch two times (Lock-Unlock) it fixes the problem. You probably have tried this already but it's worth posting just in case (I've had all kinds of prob...

Re: Hello from Portugal

Hi GingerMagic, I know there are lots of threads constantly being updated so I can only thank you for taking the time to read and reply to mine. Yes, I do love my car, it has never failed me (while driving), it's gorgeous and it's a big proud to have an older car with 2-3 times the mileage of my fr...

Hello from Portugal

Hi everyone, I am the proud owner of a 406 D9 Break HDi 110 from 1999, I am going to introduce myself and give a little background about my car so this text might get long (sorry), if you want to skip it but still try to help, which I totally understand, you can scroll down to the end of the post wh...
