Re: Central locking weird issue

I would suspect water in the driver's side footwell. Have had this issue in the majority of the 406's I have owned. Corrodes the plugs under the carpet and causes all sorts of issues with the electrics.

Re: high pressure fuel pipe leak

Where is it fracturing? All 3 roughly the same place? I would suspect that some sort of vibration is doing it. Check that both the pump and fuel rail are properly bolted up and that the pump does not some sort of internal imbalance that might be causing it to run roughly/vibrate.

Contact Steve at HDI Tuning. He does this. Have no idea how close he is to you but he does have a postal service advertised. He may be able to help you or put you onto someone who will do a mobile service.

Not 100% familiar with the coupe but the weatherstrip is just a trim piece, it closes the gap between windscreen and body. It essentially is just there for pretty... The screen is bonded in with a special windscreen bond (black mastic type goo...). The parts labelled 2 in the diagram are spacers tha...

Re: Headlight levelling motors

Had a look at one of my spare headlights. Is actually quite easy when you can see what you are trying to achieve... When putting the adjuster back into its hole, you need to aim the black ball on the motor adjuster upwards so it goes through the upper V-opening part of the internal white mechanism. ...

Mass Air Flow merters, (MAF) are probably the most common cause of sluggish performance on 2.2 HDis
<-This.. and mine also had gummed up vanes on the turbo.

Re: Rear anti-roll bar bush sizes

Yes, I guess it should be a tight fit. Better that, than a loose (rattling) fit. Definitely must be a tight fit, if loose it will rattle and make you think your drop links are worn.... and you will chase your bum around wondering why you still have a rattle after you replace your drop links... ask ...

Re: Late turbo kick in

If you can get or have a mechanical boost gauge, install it (T-piece in pipe connecting the MAP sensor on top of intercooler) and drive it. It will tell you if you are in fact losing boost. If you are losing boost, try swapping the turbo solenoid with the egr solenoid. Another thing you could try if...

Re: Turbo dismount

I did mine about 4 years ago. Took me about 3hrs from memory to get it out. Real fiddly faff of a job from memory. I did it as my variable vane system was jammed up with carbon. Cleaned it up and put it back... an even bigger fiddly faff from memory.... I definitely undid the lower mount so I could ...

Re: Sudden loud rattle, engine cuts off, then restarts after a few minutes

Two things spring to mind... 1. somehow sucking air into fuel supply line. Check all fittings. How was fuel level in tank at the time of mishap? 2. Pressure regulator faulty. My pick based on your experience with it running on after ignition off. How is your fuel filter? Debris in the fuel would aff...

I have just removed the AL4 box from a 2003 hdi and converted it to manual. SWIMBO refuses to drive an auto so I was ordered to rectify.. :cheesy: The shafts fit into the AL4 differently. the driver's side shaft (long one) has a female spline socket which locates onot the male spline in the AL4. The...
