So between us my Wife and I have had 2 D8's and 3 D9's between us.
All been good cars, before that I had 3 306's which were forever breaking, having said that a mate brought one of them off my company and its now done 202000 miles! (306XLD N reg)

I see people refer to their 406 as D7/8/9.
Mines a 2001 HDI 110.

That's interesting because I tried to get the fan working on my HDI 110. Drove it really hard and sat with the engine running at 2000 rpm for 15 mins and the gauge never went over 90 and the fan didn't kick in. The fan does come on when I put the air con on so I know it does work. All of this follow...

Mine was cracked on my previous 406 when I got it. Get some fibreglass matting and resin from a car body paint supplier or halfrauds if you've loads of cash. Robbie, Sounds like your problem is similar to mine see my thread " 406 HDI coolant air lock". Before you start taking the thing apart just try running it without the stat and see what happens.
