V6 Minor/cheap performance upgrades?
Hi, After regretting selling my old manual V6 estate, I recently won a green V6 auto estate (D8) on eBay for £700 - MoT until December. It’s turned out quite nice after a bit of a clean! :cheesy: Anyway.. the auto is a little bit slower than the manual, but not by a huge amount. I’d still like to ma...

Selling my V6 Estate GLX Manual (probably regretfully)
I have spent the last few months fighting myself over this. But realistically I really do have to sell. I have too many cars and I can't afford to keep them all! So Here it is: For Sale 1998 GLX estate 3.0 V6 Manual(D8) 123900 Miles on the clock 12 months MOT Mechanically the car is really qui...

Re: Sits too high at the back?
So I purchased some 40mm Cobra lowering springs and have fitted the rear, already it looks so much better as it’s slightly more level!
I’m not looking forward to doing the front as from what I gather it’s a bit of a ball ache!

Re: Sits too high at the back?
Well I had it parked outside for a while without being driven and noticed one day that the front was ridiculously low... I guess I have to get lowering springs now as the original has snapped! Seems to happen with all my bloody cars! this and the Delorean within a couple of weeks of each other!!

Re: Potential Key Disaster!
You can always pick up a complete lock set from a similar aged 406, I believe all the locks are the same across the whole range except the boot locks, as they are model dependent. You'll need to double check the year of the donor part is suitable for your car  Ignition barrel, door locks, pet...

Re: Potential Key Disaster!
Ah! :o That would explain. And of course you never received the other key(s), for the doors... :frown: Should have been given to you by the seller. Yeah would've been good if he did! Said he had the car for 4 years without any issues. I think I'll look for a replacement lock set altogether. There's...

D8 V6 Weights....
Does anyone know the weight of the es9j4 engine? and does anyone happen to know the weight distribution of the D8 V6 estate? All I've have found is that the car weights 1505kg! For anyone wondering why I want to know....Basically I'm trying to decide whether or not to keep the car, it needs a fair a...

Re: Potential Key Disaster!
Rather worryingly, I took the lock out of the glove box and put the key in, the pins are completely wrong
So I guess the key isn't worn, but rather the wrong key altogether! it works in the ignition and that's it, ignition must've been replaced at some point...god knows why

Re: Bollocks! Bonnet Polish Gone Wrong
*Update* Although I haven't got round to finishing the paint just yet. I ended up putting the bonnet back on to move the car and prevent more water ingress. May have been too late, or just a coincidence but the bloody thing has started misfiring almost constantly. Sounds like it's running on either...

Re: Sits too high at the back?
Ok,
Looking at lowering springs, it seems Apex springs are no longer available? these seemed to be the common choice.
Has anyone got PI lowering springs on their car? are they any good?
I'm Looking at Spax as well but they're more expensive and don't clearly list the estate

Re: Sits too high at the back?
I think this is more about the front end sinking over time, springs/dampers/bushes all getting tired. We canvassed a thread on here once where members were encouraged to measure the front end ride height, obviously I can't be arsed to find it and you can bet Photofuckit have ruined it anyway but th...
