Re: My new ride, 407SW HDi
Hello folks. Couldn't log in for quite a sometime. You'll see my car in an UK based advert. I think it's Falc if I'm not mistaken. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/07/arygabyr.jpg Now in disguise of UK plates http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/07/ebu6apu8.jpg Climbed up a small rock using a ramp http://...

Re: 406 or a 407?
Looks wise 406 still takes the cake.. but handling and performance I tend to believe it's 407. Especially handling wise and ride comfort 407 is better. However, following are the major downsides of 407 over 406. 1. Heavier body makes it less economical than the 406. 407 weighs around 1.5 ton or litt...

yeah.. you beat me to it.. I would've checked the plugs before going any further..Bailes1992 wrote:Check the gap on the spark plugs.
The Focus started doing exactly as you describe when I was about 5 years old and new spark plugs cured it!

Re: Cold starting problem 1996 406 Petrol
I would suggest the spark plugs and the wires to start... hold on ... one more test to be done.. switch on the ignition... let that humming noise (fuel pump) to load the rail.. switch off the ign key without cranking. Repeat the procedure about four five times and crank the engine. does it give any ...

Re: Heater Matrix
heater matrix of most of the 406s, here in SL are disconnected. It's there till it starts leaking and then never bother to fix it but by-pass the water lines excluding the heater matrix.

Re: 406 diesel estate (1998) with no blowers
before replacing the blower, check the black/ash color power connecter of the blower.
You will find it behind the glove box compartment which can be reached from passenger side without removing the glove box.

Re: blue smoke on startup
i found that BG oil treatment is quite useful to stop this. A friend's 405 GLD was smoking and 'gulping' about a liter of oil per week!! poured a can in and we witnessed how the bluish smoke fading away and disappeared.

Grinding noise under heavy acceleration - 407SW HDi
been enjoying the heavy torque of my "new" 407SW for awhile now. All of a sudden, this morning it gives a grinding sort of rough sound when accelerating hard from standstill. Sometimes it comes while the car is on the move and if kick down to speed up suddenly (i.e for overtaking). Frequency of the ...

Re: A/C on when starting car
if you park it under sun or in hot weather, BSI automatically keep the A/C on position with outside air intake mode when you start (ign on) next time.
Used to switch off A/C couple of minutes before I enter the driveway in my D9 executive, and next day morning I always had to manually switch on A/C.

Re: Question for 1996-1997 406 petrol owners
I had a one and the only audible sound was the buzzing sound of the petrol pump which loads the rail and then cuts off. I've been following the other thread of water in fuel tank. First check whether you get supply on the fuel pump socket with a test lamp or volt meter. If not 1. Check the engine ba...
