Re: Engine cooling fan motor

When I search using 1253E4 it seems to bring up a more basic looking fan assembly that doesn't include the ecu (that's failed on mine) is that right?

Engine cooling fan motor

The cooling fan motor on my 2.2 HDi is completely u/s. Does anyone know where to get a replacement?
I opened it up and the circuit board has lost a couple of its brush mounts and is past the point of repair.

Re: Slave Cylinder pipework

Thanks,
Is it easy to remove? Without having to take half the car apart?

Slave Cylinder pipework

A couple of days ago my clutch pedal went straight to the floor. Upon investigation, the rubber section of pipe near the slave cylinder has been chaffing (over quite some time I suspect) and eventually worn through. Is this a relatively easy run of pipe to remove? I can possibly get it repaired if i...

Re: 2.2 HDi puzzler.

I'm seeing scuff marks on the sump, is something bent? Or maybe it's been dangling about for so long the plastic is distorted :? The marks are what happens when you live in the fens! The roads are unbelievably bumpy. The pipe was/is largely out of the way and is hard plastic so would break rather t...

Re: 2.2 HDi puzzler.

I would carefully examine the upper engine mounts especially the one above the gearbox as it looks like the engine has settled down on that side from the pics of the misalignment of the turbo piping. Also check the upper and lower anti tip mountings as these often fracture allowing the motor to tip...

2.2 HDi puzzler.

Whilst under the 406 doing an oil change, I noticed the hard plastic intercooler pipe wasn't fixed via its two fixing points. Subsequently it was rubbing against the subframe. Not ideal. Removing the assocoated hoses and fixing the hard plastic pipe where it should be, I can no longer align the top ...

Re: New member long term owner

It sounds like you've got a pretty good handle on it already. Lack of power? I think the 2.2 usually has problems with all the vacuum piping and sometimes the swirl flap actuator rod, er, falls off  I made enquiries when it initially went wrong and the vacuum system was mentioned. Once I get...

Re: New member long term owner

Ooh, a 2.2 HDI estate exec, that's a lot of emergency vehicle  2003 too, one of the last. 8) I'd had a 110 a couple of years prior to that and was really impressed by it. When I needed to find a good reliable car to do the holiday in, the 406 was the first choice. It was £600 and I fitted a ...

Evening all. I've owned my current 406 since 2015 having original bought it as an emergency holiday vehicle when our daily failed. 2 weeks after purchase, we covered 2000miles through France and it was superb. But sadly, it's been out of action for a while now due to a few issues. More about that in...
