Re: Barry Bodger at his level best

I'm glad I'm not the only one that can turn any job into a clusterf**k and then leave it in a strop vowing never to touch it ever again.
Only to go out half an hour later because I can't stand the thought of something not being finished.

And then repeat...

Re: Be Careful Folks!

I pulled an HT lead off when a car was running before.
That gave me quite a wallop and taught me to be careful with stuff under the bonnet because it can hurt!

Re: insurance,

But great for us looking to buy ;) Spend £1000 on a Mondeo, you can get a lovely Ghia X TDDi 51-52 plate for that with ~100k with service history. Keep it 3-4 years and sell it for £700 ? Overall parts are cheaper than a 406, insurance is much much cheaper and they don't rust like D8's do! But I st...

Re: HTC Sensation or Samsung Galaxy S2 - Discuss

Both great dual core phones, both will have about the same battery life, both run the same OS. The Samsung has the oLED screen, the Sensation has SLCD so the Sammy has the better screen. The Sensation has HTC Sense UI which most people prefer to the Samsung ui (Touchwiz I think) I'd say the Sensati...

Re: do any women own 406s

My wife hated driving my 406, she didn't like the clutch.

Re: W Reg 110 HDI - What's it worth

Something must have been seriously wrong with my T-reg 110 HDi then because it barely had enough power to de-skin a rice pudding!

I must go out one day and try some newer more powerful diesels... once I get over my V6 growl ;)

Re: Reliability - it's not just about the car

+1 Couldn't agree more. In addition to your observations, there's also a psychological aspect to it - if you really like your car, you look for positives and make mental allowances for minor niggles - if you hate it, every glitch, real or imagined, goes down in your mental black book. I like mine, ...

Reliability - it's not just about the car

I did post this in another thread but wondered what others points of view are on the subject. My old 406 was faultless, well OK not faultless but didn't cost a lot to keep. Broken indicator stalk, new glow plugs and relay, intermittent imobiliser light on dash from the day I bought it and the air-co...

Re: Am I over reacting??

My son is only 15 months but in a few years if he scratches anyone's car he will get a thick ear and made to apologise as well as what ever other punishments I can dream up. Social services can bite my butt! He's my son and I'll bring him up the same as I was bought up (although hopefully with less ...

Re: Not been around for ages... Hello again all

Well as a little update. After a tank fill up and computer reset the computer seems a lot more accurate now. Range was 370 miles on a brimmed tank, the range is dropped by pretty much the same amount the trip computer is going up so good so far. Average MPG is now 22. But still I'm happy if I get 37...

Re: home audio

Another one for B&W speakers. They may not be cheap but they are the best (by a long way) I have a sony HD amp driving a pair of B&W fronts, B&W centre speaker and they can handle far more than the amp can throw at them. Unfortunately my sub and Missions on the rear can't handle anything like the B&...

Re: Not been around for ages... Hello again all

Yes the MK3 Mondy is a pretty big car and weighs in at nearly 1500kg. That would probably be why the MK3 is about 1/2 second slower to 60 than the Mk2 with the same engine (gearing may play a part as well.) And probably has worse economy. More airbags, more safety features, stronger body etc general...

Re: Not been around for ages... Hello again all

Try instead of using low revs using not much throttle. Theres no point being just over 1k because the engine will be sticking extra fuel in to make sure it dosen't stall. Try keep it between 1,750rpm and 3,000rpm with no much throttle, let the revs build gradually. Then when you upto speed drop it ...
