Sounds like the switch to me. Same thing happened on my Rover, changed the switch, all was well. Take the switch off of the passenger door and try that to see if it goes up and down.

If it does you know its the switch.

Thanks for all the advice, really good as usual, I don't use the site too often but when I do it is always a great help. Judging by what has been said then, the maximum towing weight would be 1300kg roughly, the weight of the 306dt is 1165kg, so as long as the trailer doesnt weigh more than 180kg I ...

I have had to have the back box and rear section replaced and also the front section and CAT, cost me £150 + VAT, this was from my local tyre and exhaust garage.

looking at the massive difference in prices on this thread, i think that the moral of the story is to shop around!!
