This was similar to what I experienced. I had the grinding noise as the ABS kicked-in at low speeds (<5mph) because the ABS sensors were knackered. I also started getting "ABS Fault" on the display. Replacing the sensors sorted it out.

Stop! You don't need to take the trim on the back of the tailgate! Well not on my Family Estate anyway. First, open the tailgate - it makes life easier. Replacing Tailgate Bulb on a 'family' estate

Has anyone managed to change a tailgate bulb on an estate? I need to replace a bulb on my '02 LX - the bulb in the tailgate, not on the car body.
