Hi
have a HDi 90 estate.
Do you have the rear tailgate? I've just backed into a concrete pillar and crunched the tailgate and offside tail cluster. I think it will be easier to replace than repair. If so how much and were are you?

tailgate - crunch
I hate bollards
Crunch - anyone know of one (tailgate 406 '03 estate, silver) ? I need the offside tail cluster too. I think it will be cheaper to replace the whole tailgate than repair the old one. It will need repainting anyway.

Veggie oil
SVO can be used 100% in older diesels ie not the modern common rail HD as long as it is pre-heated. Some people mix it in with standard diesel up to 50 % but again on the older type of diesels. You could put some in your HDI - but you run the risk of coking up your injectors and also problems with y...

vegie oil
Hi
I have just got into this myself. You cant use SVO in modern high pressure direct injection diesels ie HDI. You have to use biodiesel which is made from vedgtable oil
I have made a few batches and my HDI 90 runs fine on it. Do a search on the internet to find out about it

[sub] Have any of you tried a new tank sender? It seems its a common problem. I priced a new sender but they wanted £71 !! But I'm loath to do it if it doesn't cure the problem and is a design fault. The car is parked on a slope during the night - but it didn't cause a problem during the first few t...

Thanks I'll get some diesel cleaner as well! The air filter is spotless - i think its new. Dont think I have a leak - not seen anything. About bio diesel. Its correct that if you use straight vedgatable oil (SVO) that its thicker and in any case wont work in a modern high pressure direct injection d...

its getting worse ....
well my 90 HDi is getting worse. I reckon on this tank of fuel i will be getting about 460 miles - which is down in the 30's mpg.
Whats going on? Its a siemens fuel system - off to buy a new filtre - see if it helps. Also I will try Shell next tank.
Has anybody any expereince with bio-diesel?

fuel consumption
Thanks for all your advice. I've had a couple of indications that the brand of fuel is important. I have so far used Tesco citydiesel (its c heap). Does the brand REALLY make any difference?? I'm new to diesel motoring. I've never found the brand made one jot of difference on a petrol engine. I've r...

Thanks Dai I'll try what you suggest = I've already tried kicking it and swearing at it but you know how stubborn the French can be! Its so tight across the seat though its pulling the cusion in hard - I doubt if I can get any slack. Is it difficult to pull the seat to bits? Otherwise I'll have to b...

Thanks, I will try that but the mpg I have measured were by calculation using a full tank. Also I have checked the air filter (new) - but will check for brake binding. Thanks for your advice

locked seat belt
I have expereinced exactly the same thing - the belt is locked solid. I will try the "shake it violently" technique and see if it works. Sounds like its a common problem
