well took her in today - got a call this afternoon saying the old alternator was burnt out and its a wonder there wasnt a fire at some point :roll: - fitted a new one on and done the rewiring - new battery connectors and hey presto he said it's starting mint again

now for the invoice ouch!!

yes i too thought that about the battery spesh being a new one.

well it's off to the doctors tomorrow for a good service

Car Failing to start 1.9TD Exec 96

Hi People thanks for the help and advice in the past - up until now ive had no problems the problem - left my car standing for a day and the battery was dead, hadnt left anything on, had a jump start and all ok again for a couple of days - went to start it and DEAD nothing not even a clunk - managed...

hi dude

as i say it only came on twice for a couple of seconds, drove about five miles after i topped up and never came on

so it could just of been a glitch but something to watch out for i think - better keep a 2 liter bottle of the stuff in the boot

yeah could be - topped it up with fluid and checked for leaks but nothing so i'm gonna take it for a blow out tomorrow and see if the light comes on after a bit - think it's me just being a para cat thou whilst looking under the car i did notice a pipe - strange thing is i have never noticed it befo...

how do you know it's corroded if you don't know where it is? i know were the switching system is but i cant seem to find one for sale cheepish - Do you mean the switches? How on earth did they get corroded :? Ebay or breakers me thinks think it may have had a broken window at some point - water get...

cant seem to find the locking ring - can only find a nut/bolt thats in the compartment on the back shelf

hi dude

im based in the west midlands - so i think it's a bit far - looking to get it replaced asap thou for just peace of mind as the guy before me said he had it changed but had no paper work :frown:

it's the TD or is it the DT p plate 96

hi guyz just been speaking with an old chappy who fixes cars, he gave me a quote for a cambelt change - he quoted 70 quid all in :? he explained how he changed the cam belt over - he said he splits the old belt in half keeping half of the old belt on the cam - then gets the new one and slides it hal...
