Re: Temperature on my 406 1.9 td

I do have a habit of changing the thermostat on all cars that I acquire. They only cost £5 or less, and it's one less thing to worry about.
While I'm in there, I often change the coolant as well.

Re: Scrap value

So, it's £450 to repair a known good car, or double for a total unknown?? I know which I'd do. Repair your trusty steed.

Re: No DPF? be hauled over the coals.....

All of which merely confirms my opinion that a nice condition pre dpf 406 diesel is a cracking car to own.
What I'll get when they become to rare, goodness only knows.

Re: Changing A/C condensor

Yes, and it's fairly easy if you are competent to change the radiator. Taking out the headlights improves the access dramatically. Then remove the radiator mounting bolts which will let the rad tip backwards. then with some fiddling, the condenser can be accessed and removed.

Re: need opinion on if my map is standard?

Or, as you're car seems to drive well, enjoy it and look after it.
I can't think of any sensible way to check for sure, short of plugging in pp2000, and seeing what that tells us?

Re: need opinion on if my map is standard?

Greetings. Like you, I've owned two HDI110s, and both of them drive like yours. I would say that the rev range is 1800 to 3000, after which you're either doing 90, or need to change up. If they lack power, then it can be things like throttle position sensors and mafs. On these, I wouldn't compare th...

From your description, this would need to be really cheap. And you'd expect to be having to sort out all the problems. there are lots of good second hand cars out there, I would keep looking.

Other mistakes I've made are make sure you know which way the fuel tap works, and is it's little ignition switch any good?

Re: Starting a Generator

you use the choke the other way to you describe, and it's nothing to do with the rain!
Close the choke to richen the mixture for starting from cold. Don't use the choke if the motor is hot. By don't use, I mean keep it open. Once running, you leave it open.
