Blue smoke on idle, back pressure?
I've been dealing with this saga now over the last year or so, blue smoke on idle - diagnosed by the garage to be piston rings, thus i went ahead with the work only to find out it was the turbo all along and had to pay for that to be re-conditoned as well! It was hell but at least the turbo had stop...

On the 2.0 turbo as i've got you just need to pop the driveshaft out then its not that hard to get to - with the right tools though!

Does it feel like the steering is wandering a bit when you get up to higher speeds like 80mph? Mine had similar problems and a clunking on acceleration and decceleration which turned out to be the bottom ball joint. They're only a tenner each and are fairly easy to change.

Mine did this and its quite worrying seeing as you dont know if and when the fans are going to kick in
On the back of the engine though towards the top / rocker cover area there was a wire that had come off and thats about it really. Problem sorted.

Right i cant remember which each of the wires are but you should have a small installation manual with your turbo timer. I cannot stress enough do not attempt this without the use of a electrical tester. For the sake of spending £10 if you havent already got one you may save a big repair bill on the...
