Gear lever
(I'm a mechanical ignoramus) Reversed car out this morning no problem. When I tried to engage first gear to pull away the gear lever is just flopping about like stranded fish. Any ideas what this could be and would it be a reasonable cost to fix or would I need a second mortgage? 53 plate 406 hdi 90...

Auto Keys Direct (AKA Atomobile-Locksmith) on ebay. Fixed mine with new micro switches, rubber buttons and top cover. Returned within two days. His standard price for most repairs is £16.

Siemens ECU
I have a 2003 reg 406 hdi 90, but it has a Siemens ecu, not Bosch. Does anyone know of anywhere in the north/north east where I can get a remap on a Siemens chip?
