Busted cam belt (and LPG question).
OK, so I think I've done in my cam belt on my 2.0L D8. Labour costs here in Aus. are high, particularly as Peugeots generally and 406s especially are quite uncommon, therefore I'm looking at >AU$1200 for a Peugeot specialist to do the work. I'm wondering if I'm better off just transplanting the engi...

Re: body kit
There used to be all sorts of trouble when people got things wrong, eg. when someone wrote "it's" instead of "its" and visa versa. Well, seeing as we're on the subject of corrections, it's actually vice versa. Not 'visa'. That's a just common mispronounciation. Sorry. *meekly* I'm a professional pr...

Re: Passenger airbag cover
Where does one get a copy of LASER? Service Box works well enough but is a bit clunky and isn't as comprehensive as it perhaps should be.

Re: Passenger airbag cover
Mine has raised on one side and the visible area is about 1inch long. The frustrating thing is that this is barely enough room to work with and to get a decent spread of glue into but I don't want to make it worse in order to facilitate a bodge reglueing job. On top of this is the fact that the cove...

Re: D9 Erratic Speedometer
...but I've not had the GPS to get an accurate speed (My speedo reads a slither under 10% high). When mine works its 10% high too. Until recently, the Australian Design Rules here have always allowed for a margin of error of 10% either above or below the actual speed. Therefore, in most situations,...

Door card material fraying
The door card material around the door handles is constantly coming out and has ballooned out in the spot where the contour is for your arm to rest in. I presume this is common as my grandmother's 406 has the same problem. My temporary fix (as in, once a fortnight or if I get annoyed enough) is to r...

Re: Replacing head unit in a mark 1
While they mightn't be a perfect match, the keys that come with the new headunit (which vary in shape from brand to brand, i.e.: Sony uses a different shape to JVC etc.) will work with enough brute force and ignorance applied to them. On the Eurovox units there are two 1/2" slots on either side. Jam...

Re:
. I used to find that little recess very handy for storing my mobile phone. It's where my rubber clutch pedal cover lives for weeks at a time after it slides off while driving... There's nothing visibly wrong with it, it just comes off on its own. The only downside is that metal pedals hurt o...

Re: Oh dear!
I was in a three car pile up the day after I bought my 406. I bought it at lunch time on a Friday, drove back to work and stayed in until 7pm slaving away at my desk. I drove home, collapsed in bed, got up at 6am and went back to the office on Saturday. Knocked off at 5:45pm and drove home again. In...

Re: Stereo Wiring cut
My D8 owner's manual has a wiring colour breakdown, perhaps the D9 does too?? I installed a new stereo when I bought my car and didn't bother chasing a correct socket for it, I just cut the lot and patched the wires myself, but I had plenty of slack to work with. In any case, if the thief has cut th...

Re: D9 Erratic Speedometer
I too have an erratic speedometer (on my D8), and while all evidence points to it being a bodgy connection somewhere, I haven't sat down and investigated. My speedo will jump to 60km/hr almost immediately (when it can't be more than 15km/hr)and sits there until you actually meet its readout before r...
