Re: Threshing Noise and other foibles!

Finally got the compressor and fitted it! Noticed though that the "water in diesel" light is on again. Tried the usual of draining some diesel out of the bottom of the fuel filter housing then pumped the hand bleeder but light still lit. Any ideas anyone? :(

Re: Threshing Noise and other foibles!

Will the tensioner and independent pulley off a petrol coupe model fit my model? The car I'm trying to get this off has the same compressor as mine!

Re: Threshing Noise and other foibles!

No it's definately the compressor, the plastic bearing has started to come out helping to make it so noisy.

Re: Threshing Noise and other foibles!

Is there 40 different kinds of air con compressor in these 406's, or just the one main generic one regardless of if it's a petrol or diesel model.

Re: Threshing Noise and other foibles!

Had a full examination today and never even had to take auxiliary belt off as as soon as I had the wheelarch liner off it was clear the compressor was the cause of the rattle. It was rattling it's tits off and was getting quite warm, I disconnected the wiring to the compressor and surprise surprise ...
