Thanks for responses so far... I'd like to offer him violence, the mood I'm in - but I don't think that will get my money back! It only cost £475 for cash - that's why I was happy to buy it with a few known problems, although had I known about the hidden ones aswell I certainly would not have bought...

Thanks for the feedback, guys... feel a little bit more confident already! The steering does judder under braking, although only when braking from higher speeds (45mph+). I don't think I'll be up to changing brake discs anyway, so I'll get the garage to confirm the problem before they do any work he...
