Re: BSI - Please Explain
I found these guys offering a guaranteed and remanufactured BSI for £65: http://www.autotekelectronics.com/public/part.php?partid=13930&img=1 They say it will need a dealer reprog once fitted but at the price it is a big saving, and it is apparently guaranteed. There is no reason why a BSI could not...

Re: 406 + LPG = No Congestion Charge???
Yep... but sadly it won't happen it appears. Have now confirmed that only cars listed on the "Powershift Register" are approved. Even these have to be the exact model and converted by the listed authorised converter to meet the standard which seems awfully like a monopoly to me. The closest you get ...

Re: 2002 406 estate HDI 110 FUEL CONSUMPTION
Blimey... so were you working all this just off the gauge? Being old skool I don't trust anything electronic that much. The float swings through an arc so it will always go faster one half than the other. Top and bottom are usually the only measures you can trust. Every car I have had I fill right u...

406 + LPG = No Congestion Charge???
Does anyone know if a 406 correctly converted to LPG by an "approved fitter" is Congestion-Charge exempt? We spend £1200 a year on C charge and although the HDi is fantastically economic to run, and I love the power, my colleague with a LPG powered Smart car pays no Congestion charge. So, I'm thinki...

Re: Oh bugger, Ithink the turbo's died
Mmm not sure what that would be, mine is older than yours anyway. Would have thought its the EGR valve like you. Is he thinking it could be blocked? OK, as you have done the valves its not likely to be them (sorry missed that bit, its a marathon-length thread). Have you tested the vacuum pump to mak...

Re: Oh bugger, Ithink the turbo's died
I had a problem just like yours which I fixed last week. :D Reading your post helped me solve it as I knew what you had tested and found not to work, so I then managed to work it out with some help of another forum. Maybe I can repay the favour by helping you get yours sorted now. Take another look ...

Re: lack of power from HDi - has been off the road for 6 months
OK good luck. If you don't have a vacuum tester then I'd suggest at least testing the vac line to the turbo by sucking on it and seeing if it holds a vacuum. You should even hear a slight "clunk" from the turbo as the wastegate gets pulled across against its spring (do this with the motor off!!). Tr...

Re: lack of power from HDi - has been off the road for 6 months
Had something similar i solved only last week with my 406 HDi. Does it feel like you have no turbo boost? Does it refuse to rev much over 2800 rpm? If so check the vacuum solenoids that control the turbo, its the left hand one (looking from the front) that matters for the turbo. You can check it is ...

Re: Oh bugger, Ithink the turbo's died
Hey, I just found this thread... very interesting story as your turbo problems are exactly what I am getting in my HDi 110 (99 V reg). Did you successfully take the garage to Trading Standards? I found a useful article about the HDi 110 motor which you might find helpful in your case, i.e. to prove ...
