driveshaft is in good condition cv boots have no tears and cv joints are quiet.

last time I did one the tensioner was very tight but to be honest I cut the belt off then on re-fitting lossened the tensioner and used a pry bar to take the tension while slipping the belt on.

can I also add that the small button on the remote key pad if you leave your windows or sunroof open then lock the car normally then press this button it will set the deadlock and close any windows you may have open. magic!

dont believe there is one mechanical fuel pump. maf sensor only needed to link to the ECU.

I agree I did the head gasket on a 306 1.9 td recently and it was an absolute pig its a cose of both inlet and exaust manifold off top engine mount etc.. it would have been much easier to swap the engine. main block and head are the same in 306, 405, 406 and xantia 1905 TD the piping will be differe...

my advise is better safe than sorry I always change my cambelt eigther when I buy the car or 60,000 miles been stung with the dreaded cambelt snapping before and it wasn't a pretty sight.
