Re: What do you use to cut stubborn bolts and nuts?

Do you mean drill into the sides of the nut, or just drill the bolt out?

Re: What do you use to cut stubborn bolts and nuts?

Ok, interesting.

I have used my grinder before to get nuts off, but find I just chew up the surrounding metal as well as the nut, as the grinder is just too big! think I need to invest in a dremmel or similar and some small grinding discs.

What do you use to cut stubborn bolts and nuts?

Whilst I was replacing the rear droplinks for the first time on my 406 yesterday, I was getting very frustrated that the rusted nut was just spinning the ball joint in the droplink and I couldn't get it off. Even with mole grips holding the ball joint spindle, it was still spinning. Space was very l...

Rear door wont unlock

Hi, my drivers side rear door is stuck fast. I can unlock it from the key fob or from the inside of the door itself, and it makes a sound like its unlocking, but it wont open. I have taken the door card off from the inside and the levers are all attached. I can pull them both (the open and unlock le...

Re: Ignition barrel, blower fan problem, is there a fix?

Thanks. Yep it's a D9. So, I run a 12v feed from the battery, but too where? I have had blower motor off before but cant remember the connectors. I take it there will be a three wires going to it? Ground, 12v live and variable live to change the fan speed. I just need to wire a permanent live to the...

Ignition barrel, blower fan problem, is there a fix?

I've had the common problem where the blower fan doesn't work unless you wiggle the ignition around and then it kicks in. A few months ago I managed to cable tie the wire in place so it would always work, but now its started broken again and I cannot get it to stay in position to keep the fan blowin...

Re: Wheel Alignment issue?

Hmm ok, just had the alignment checked and the garage can't find anything wrong with it! With the steering wheel set straight, the wheels are spot on they say. They have swapped the front wheels over side to side to see if it pulls the other way now, but it is still the same. It's not bad, but it is...

Yep, tyres are relatively new and pressures checked at the very least each month, so happy that it is most likely alignment. Gonna get it done this friday.

Thanks,

David,

Wheel Alignment issue?

Just want to check something. If I let go of the steering wheel on my 406, it naturally flings to an 11 o'clock position and the car pulls to the left. I have to hold the wheel at a bit of an opposite angle to keep the car straight and I can feel resistance in the steering. This is just a tracking p...

Re: Rear Fog Lamps

As above, I added a bulb in my passenger bulb holder, but also had to run a wire spur from the drivers side to the passenger to get two foglights. I traced the metal track of the bulb connector back to the multiplug and ended up just pushing the wire into the multiplug connector to get he positive f...

Re: climate control problem

I had a similar problem and found it was the ignition switch. I initially thought the fan and took the plug off to check for a 12v feed - which was working fine. Then after some one mentioned the ignition switch on here, I ended up taking the cowling off all around the ignition and tried to remove t...

Re: Reprogamming new key. Is there another way?

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping that wouldn't be the case. I got frustrated last night trying to get the thing working, so got the soldering iron out again and managed to get the old key fixed. Not sure how long it will last, looks like I used a welding torch on it!! Thankfully it is working in t...

Reprogamming new key. Is there another way?

1999 D9 1.8 petrol. I have central locking with the two button key fob with led. The switch for the big button fell off a year ago, so I bought a new one and soldered it on. All good, but over the past year it kept falling off, so I kept soldering it back on and basically this last time, was the las...
