Re: Replace 406 GLX Mk1/D8 ICE

Hi mate I know this is an old thread but just in case your still trying to sort it out. I think you'll be struggling to get an aftermarket changer to fit - you can get them for the later D9's but not yours I dont think Stalk control leads are easy to get but again with the earlier cars I think you w...

Re: intelligent split charge possible?

I know this is an old thread and you've probably sorted it by now but you can get a split charge relay that takes its trigger direct from the bettery (rather than the alternator) so all you have is a decent sized cable to run from front battery to relay and relay to rear battery then a trigger cable...

Re: 6.5" subwoofers?

Try reversing the phase on your JBL i.e swap pos and neg round on the speaker or the RCA - it can help a make the sub sound like its playing along with the music rather than behind it (if that makes sense)

Re: 6.5" subwoofers?

ideally all subs need an enclosure to play in to get the best out of them, to slap a 10" sub in the rear shelf is gonna be a lot of work and cutting of metal, the rear shelves are a part of a cars rigidity so you dont want to be losing too much of it

Re: 6.5" subwoofers?

For some reason 6.5"subs are twice the price of a 10" sub.

Jl's are about £90 each I think but you can get some DLS ones from Caraudiodirect.com for about £160 ish - unfortunately not many companys make that size sub

Re: 6.5" subwoofers?

The only problem with using the mids as subs is they wont really drop low enough to give you some decent bass. Are you putting them in some sort of enclosure or running them free air as again free air wont really go low as opposed to ones in a proper enclosure. If your not really after the wobbling ...

Re: Thinking of a new headunit.

Yes mate you will need an adaptor plate (about a tenner ish) and if you want stalk control to work (as long as ytour new head unit has the facility) are about £30. Fairly straight forward fit as there is quite a bit of room behind the standard radio to fit the extra wiring. But like said the only pr...

Re: My HDI - now staying

Hi mate

Sorry I have taken so long to reply - i've been away for a few days

It works out at just over £30 for the stalk control leads and the interface for your radio.

Cheers
