Re: Ebay Xsara
As opposed to AutoTrader, where they would just list A/C and not mention anything else about it? At least when you see an eBay advert like that, you know it's likely to not be working and can factor it in to your bid... it's less annoying that travelling 100 miles to see a car from the 'trader which...

Re: Is it right to flash "foggers"..
Makes me glad I've got a car this year as well as the bike. I've spent the last 3 years with just a bike, and fog-light usage is the biggest annoyance of winter months. Even more-so than grit and ice :) . What you running, a ZZR-1400? It's about the only Kwak I can think of nudging 200bhp :) --Rich

Re: Is it right to flash "foggers"..
It's even worse on a bike when you've got smears of road salt all over your visor & some @rsehole has their fogs on  Yep, it's a huge problem for me when using the bike. I now just put my main beam on as soon as I see them... quite tempted to start noting the registration plates and hunt them...

Re: Newbie here... potential 406 owner :)
It isn't an exec model :) The difference between £1500 and £800 is a hell of a lot of DIY repairs, it really is. :) --Rich yeah u might be able to get the cam belt done on your v6 mondeo for the difference    They have a timing chain mate. :) Besides, I'd DIY a timing belt if it inde...

Re: Newbie here... potential 406 owner :)
It isn't an exec model :). Was only up for £800 though... Bought the Mondeo in the end. £820 for a 2000 V6 Ghia X, fully loaded, 101k with FFSH and 12 months MOT. Hard to argue with for the money... I'd be looking at £1500+/- for a tidy D9 HDi with less than starship miles... possibly even a bit mor...

Re: Newbie here... potential 406 owner :)
I'll just add my 5 cent's worth: if you're looking for an early D9 (facelift), you might be better off looking for a late D8 (pre-facelift), less to go wrong and cheaper to fix. I'm also not getting much more miles to the £ in my 2.0 HDi than I get in the 2.1td, that's around town with the occasion...

Re: Newbie here... potential 406 owner :)
Wow... cheers for all the input lads :) . Must admit I was a tad disappointed that nobody had much to say before... I went off and found a Mondeo V6 which has caught my eye. Not bought it yet, still weighing up my options... am well aware of the waterpumps and head gaskets, but other than that, they...

Ah, great stuff. Cheers for that
. I'm only looking at the 2.0HDi, so I guess it's unlikely to matter much

Re: lack of power from HDi - has been off the road for 6 months
FAP filter takes out the soot from the engine and keeps the exhaust nice and clean. It's used in conjunction with a separated fluid tank which injects a quantity each time the fuel filler is opened. If the tank is empty (often around 60-80k miles you will need the main dealer to refill the system a...

Just to add - apologies if this is in the wrong forum. I did have a look around, but couldn't decide which forum it really belonged in!

Newbie here... potential 406 owner :)
Hi all. Had a 406HDi Rapier 90 as a company car back in 2002, and loved it. One of the few cars to leave a really positive and strong impression on me. Not particularly quick, but lovely to look at, nicely designed interior, great communication from the car when digging it in around corners... remin...
