Re: Petrol strikes back
Actually on the A68 when I do go it's around Corbridge and then along the miltary roads, I know what you mean about the jumps, I got air off one about 75, no wonder my sills have the plastic peeling off them and are dented

Steering Wheel Woes.
Got to love the 406, it's started falling to bits each time, I shut the door. Anyways this is the current serious dangerous issue. As my seat is all the way back being a big guy a 6ft 8, I need the steering wheel extended toward me ideally, although I can still reach it fine when the column is sat a...

Re: Too Tall for a 406!
Hey I'm 6ft 8 and fit in my 406 alright, sure not properly and I get a bad back after 3-4 hours. The trick is to tilt the seat backwards and by this I mean so the base raises your calfs upward toward the steering wheel and then move the backrest back a little, the puts you just in front of the middl...

Re: Petrol strikes back
Petrol does strike back, the engines are alot more flexible, no turbos, high pressure fuel pumps, or injectors to go wrong £2300 for the fuel pump replacement on my Primera DCi! that was before bloody fitting too! Shouldn't of got a diesel Steve, should of got it converted like me. 26 Town mpg on LP...

Coolant Sensor
I've asked about the problems I've been experiencing. Poor starting, the car needs to be revved hard before it will idle properly and then be a bit rough until it warms up or switches to LPG. Poor acceleration until it's warmed up and kangarooing along. and a Slight misfire on idle (pinging) when fi...

Re: Instrument Cluster/Buzzer
Thanks teamster, it's definately a GLX.
It's a 1996 model year one hence no alloys or A/C
you can even see the GLX where I took the badge off and it's stained the paintwork.
Plus it has rear electric windows and foglights.
Anyway is it definately the PCB did all 406's have lights on warning?

Instrument Cluster/Buzzer
I've looked in the Haynes manual and it confirms my thoughts. There should be a lights on buzzer. I keep leaving the freckin' lights on in my 406 it's a D8 1997 model first registered in 1998 although the build dates says it was built toward the end of 96' there doesn't seem to be any warning when t...

Re: New Engine.
Yeh think you might be right, is it a valve stem cover I need to prevent the oil leaking onto the spark plugs? Where do these engines normally leak from? The coolant sensor wouldn't this mean the temperature guage wouldn't work? and the fans wouldn't kick in as they do? How much roughly, where is it...

New Engine.
I was thinking about putting a new engine in my 406, I think it seems awfully tired after just 68,000, when I changed the spark plugs I noticed the #1 cylinder spark plug was covered in oil and the other had a light dusting. It's due a cambelt change and there is strange ticking on idle and comments...

Gearbox and Cambelt.
I think my gearbox is just about to give up, she's always grinding into 1st (the syncromesh has gone) and has starting in 2nd too, the cable cable is fine and it's a brand new clutch btw. It's so annoying, everyone looks at me although I've just passed my test, even rolling up to a stop at idle and ...

A Bit Rough.
Hey there, a little problem with my 406 especially when it's cold It runs on LPG great, I get around 400-450 miles out 64 litres of LPG which is around 30-33mpg which is bloody good considering it's 46.9p here and only costs £31 to fill up. I get about 40mpg on petrol on a run and around 33mpg aroun...

Re: Issues.
So why does the 750Li, Megane, 307, Astra, Focus and all the other cars I've previously owned, driven or borrowed just stayed in the middle of the temperature guage at about 90c?

French and Perfection aren't words that go together, but I love this car so I'm going to attempt to get it perfect. Firstly the thing that is worrying me. On every other car I've had the temperature guage sits bang in the middle and doesn't move whether in traffic, on a hot day, cold, motorway etc u...

Re: Bad :(
Oh well, I'm gonna sell it, was only £30 should get at least double that it's a good headunit, I'll get a Pioneer DEH-110E to replace it. 10 Amp fuse in the back (y) good sign. Panasonic has too many wires and an external convertor for the 70w digital amp. The Pioneer will be a cleaner install, I'll...
