Rear box exhaust clamp ~ is that it?
My exhaust started to make the dreaded 'blowing sound' on the way back home, eventually making my car sound like some boy racer's 'wicked' corsa. I feared the worst, cos I'm skint as a skint thing in skint land, but it turns out the back box and central pipe are 100% ok, almost new looking. The flar...

Re: servicing advice, cambelt etc etc
300 quid? How much is a friggin' cam belt? Even if they are about £100 (can't be, can they?)*, and labour is,what, £50/h, does it really take 4 hours to do the job?
*Just looked on flea bay, and a genuine 406 2.1 'cam belt timing kit' is around £40-50. I'm amazed. Is labour that expensive now?

Re: Clutch / Brake Fluid
Now I'm confused. Is it leaded or unleaded I need to put into a 1.6 Sierra if I wish to remove the Bishops from the House of Lords?

Re: How many 406's have you had?
I briefly inherited a 2.0 GLX (I think) S reg D8 as a company car as I was waiting for my Audi. My mind was on this fancy German motor I was going to get, so I didn't really pay much attention. It would have been waiting to go back to the lease guys, so it would have been 3 years old already. I can ...

Re: Sticking lock
Cheers for the info. I'll add that to tomorrows jobs. I've just ordered 2 of the correct batteries from flea bay, swiss Renata ones ~ less than 2 squid including postage. I can't believe I've owned and driven my D8 around for nearly 3 years without trying new ones. I had it in my head they were like...

Sticking lock
Sorry if I'm monopolizing the questions ~ I'm having a bit of a 'car' fixing week. My D8 doesn't usually lock / unlock from the fob (it does sometimes), so I've been using the key. The drivers side lock has always been a bit 'sticky', sometimes refusing to turn or engage, sometimes it does. It's get...

Re: Fitting replacement doors
Cheers for the replies, gents. I'll start looking for some doors on flea bay and at the breakers, then. Oh, and see if I can blag someone's hairdryer (being a slaphead myself).

Re: Eeeek! What is this dangly bit?
Thanks for the replies. mjb ~ your throttle body looks different to mine. I'll take a photo of mine tomorrow. munfred ~ I'll see if I can get a better photo, and wire numbers. It's at the front of the engine bay, and was just dangling down. To be honest, the only thing I can see it reaching is the t...

Re: Fitting replacement doors
Yeah, I was thinking if the D8 / D9 doors are interchangeable. I figured that it would be easier to get a set of rust free D9 doors, just because they would be newer.

Eeeek! What is this dangly bit?
Looking under the bonnet today I noticed this hanging down; http://www.jharry.co.uk/photos/dangly-bit.jpg Can anyone tell me what it is, and where it should either connect to or bolt to? Looking at the starting problems thread it looks like it should be attatched to the throttle body, is that right?...
