A good forum for the 207 ?

My D8 died peacefully about a year ago and I have been pottering around in my wife's 207 cc for the last year. It has developed a few niggling little problems and at £200 a visit to the local garage, I need to start doing something. I just can't find a decent forum, certainly nothing with the sort o...

Re: 1996 1.9TD for parts or repair.

I live in Clydebank as well, Parkhall. I work in Aberdeen and have a parking space which is now occupied by the 406. Recovery back to Clydebank would be too expensive if I have then got to spend time and money on a repair. If I was closer to home I would fit a new timing belt and see what happens bu...

1996 1.9TD for parts or repair.

Sadly, at approx. 17:30 on Friday 06/12/13, the 1996, 1.9TD Executive, expired...on the busiest junction in Aberdeen. Thank you to the helpful two who pushed the quiet Peugeot into a side street for me. So, before I offer it to the local scrappy, does anyone want to make me an offer for it? Passed i...

Re: Getting harder to start

I had a very similar problem with my car. Replaced the filters, checked the glow plugs, charged the battery, etc, it just got slowly worse & worse. It was the fuel solenoid. They don't always fail totally, suddenly. Mind took about two weeks before it finally gave out. You can get them on eBay for <...

Re: Powered Steering Cylinder

I am not a great believer in additives, they just postpone the day you need to do something. Looking at it earlier, the fabric cover is intact and you have to look to see the oil staining. I only noticed because the reservoir level dropped down to min. but very gradually. I have a feeling that it mi...

Re: Powered Steering Cylinder

Thanks for that.

Surprise, surprise, the car got through its MOT as is.

I'll keep the information though. If the leak won't cure itself but I don't intend keeping the car beyond next summer.

Regards,
Colin.

Re: 1.9 Turbo bit the dust

I have never worked with Turbo's, so no personal experience to add. I have been give some horror stories about turbos runnung on engine oil, though. I found this on ebay, when I was looking for something else. Haven't dealt with the supplier or used this product, so no recommendation. http://www.eba...

Powered Steering Cylinder

I looks like I have a very slow leak from the powered steering ram & cylinder. I understand this is an MOT failure. Looking at the prices for 2nd. hand units on ebay, I was wondering if anyone knows if you can get a seals kit for these ? I would prefer putting on something I had refurbished than ris...

Re: Handbrake adjustment: some notes & a constructive bodge

Be a careful with this adjustment. If Peugeot have got their sums correct, the maximum adjust/ stretch of the new cable they have allowed should be just before the small wires in the cable start breaking rapidly. If you are making the cable work at a longer stretch than it was design for by adding t...

Re: Black Smoke

Thank you for the replies. I checked all the hoses etc but it made no difference. There was some oil on the engine, so I convinced myself one of the injectors had come off its copperwasher, so replaced the washer and the fire seal. No difference. Replaced the hoses linking the injectors. No differen...

Re: Black Smoke

Thank you for the replies. The car gets a regular blast on the motorway and there are no other signs of a carbon build up, but I will do as you suggest. I will check the hoses on Saturday but not sure I understand the details of the system well enought other than to check the tightness of the clips....

Black Smoke

I have the 1.9td Executive, 1996 plate (D8), 265,000 miles on the clock. I have the car on a 10,000 miles service interval and it burns almost no oil between services. I have been getting a fair bit of black smoke developing recently. If I rev up sharply from idle, it is like Indian smoke signals. T...
