Re: 2.1 pump change
The pump will run fine, you'll lose a fraction of power if you run veg, but not enough to be overly noticeable. (i haven't pump pump fuel in my 2.1 since i got it!)

Re: 2.1 pump change
This is the perfect time to upgrade to a mechanical Bosch pump and get rid of the dreadful Lucas Epic system. Budget around £100 for a Bosch pump, injector lines & injectors, belt and tensioner kit should be around £40-£50, i'd definately change the waterpump too, maybe another £30. Swap takes about...

Re: New ( to me ) 1.9 DT Estate ... no turbo?
It's a normal solenoid, just keep hold of the wire from the immob circuit as it's a spring fitting, not a nut.

Re: New ( to me ) 1.9 DT Estate ... no turbo?
Stevie I'll check my old notes re the torx bolt. I thought you screwed it in ( down/clockwise ) to put more pressure on the diaphragm to increase boost? That's what I did with the Land Rover ... the Landy guys call it the smoke screw as the more you screw it in the more unburned diesel and black sm...

Don't both looking for a MAF, the 1.9 never had one.
Check the usual stuff, filters, hoses, airleaks.

Re: New ( to me ) 1.9 DT Estate ... no turbo?
You said you turned the torx screw on top of the pump in? You're supposed to screw it out, you're limiting the travel of the pin if you screw it down. Got a boost gauge you can chuck in the loop to check the pressure? Air filter, fuel filter, tank strainer? Blockage on any of them will destroy the p...

Re: camshaft/timing belt
Should be able to drop in another cam and give it a new belt a start it up. These are "straight" not "angled" interference engines, although the valves DO hit the pistons, they do it "flat to flat". The valves don't usually bend, they just transfer the impact from the piston into the cam, snapping it.

Re: Very frustrating fuel leak...
You say it's defo not PS fluid, just check the hose clip on the top of the PS pump, mine was pissing out of there and i was sure it was fuel until i actually saw it weeping.

Re: XUD 1.9td sans oil cooler
I'm not aware of this engine having an oil cooler :? It's the unit with two water pipes on it that the filter screws onto. OP, flush it through, remove the cooler unit altogether (else the oil will just flow out of the water pipe connections) and join the two water pipes together. Just be careful n...

Re: 1.9 td hard to start
Moving the belt one tooth would put it to either full advance or full retard, both of which would cause it to not run/run like a bag of snot.
Moving the pump allows very fine adjustment.

Re: 1.9 td hard to start
I see that you mentioned earlier that the timing has been checked, did you just pin the sprockets or did you actually reset the position of the pump in relation to the sprocket. What I mean is, the pump can be adjusted by loosening the sprocket and turning the center bolt of the pump clockwise or a...
