Re: Changing near side track rod.

Hello guys, if they're solid metal, what actually wears on them?

Do anyone have a close up picture of one so I know what I'm looking at?

Thanks in advance

Re: Changing near side track rod.

How about when you are getting the new track rod in, won't I damage the knuckle when tightening?

Thanks in advance

Re: Changing near side track rod.

£95 is the price I've been quoted by the local garage to do it inc tracking.

It's the track rod that it's actually failed on, I was going to change the end whilst I was there.

Ahh, so the track rod will just turn on the knuckle as it's the knuckle that needs changing out.

Did you take the unit off the car and put it in a vice for this?

Re: Lower suspension ball joint removal tool

Hello guys,

My motor failed the MOT on both front lower suspension ball joint boots. I assumed this was a case of changing both ball joints but the MOT guy told me they just replace the boots.

Has anyone done this, and on a 406?

Re: Lower suspension ball joint removal tool

Thanks for that video,

He makes it look easy!

I've ordered a new ball joint, but TBH by the time I've bought the tool it might be easier to wip the whole unit off off a donner car?

Thanks

Lower suspension ball joint removal tool

Hello guys,

I've googled the removal tool but it's showing a few different sizes. What's the exact tool for a 1998 406?

Thanks

Re: 406 droplinks - Are there different versions?

I wondered what the hell was going on when I looked yesterday!

I replaced them on another 406 for an MOT only a few months ago that then went bang!

Re: Wanted 1900TD Estate

Agreed. Maybe he want's too much which is why he didn't accept it.

Always the bloody way, there was a 406 estate in london requiring a new exaust, already sold and one in the Friday-ad about 5 miles from my house only £350 with 5 months ticket, already sold!!
