Re: Anyone up for a challenge?

I think this is a great development & would like to thank all concerned in doing this for us. As a relative newcomer, I am aware that content was lost from the forum due to hackers etc. - hate to see anything similar happen here. Do you/we have precautions to prevent this kind of thing? I am happy ...

Re: Anyone up for a challenge?

Is it OK to have links to an external site? I have put a Cambelt/80k service how-to guide for the 3.0V6 on my own website, then created a new Wiki category under Engines - Petrol to link to it.

Hope that is the right way of doing this.

Martin.

Re: Possible binding brake(s)

I'd have definitely noticed that (it's REALLY loud inside - louder than the roar of the V6 at speed) OK, I'm worried about my hearing now - neither my wife nor I noticed any odd noises. Saying that, I did not notice that interior fan you mentioned either. Perhaps commuting 100 miles each day on the...

Re: Kerbweights help required

The 406 makes a very good tow car, but the HDI 110 is the bettor bet for towing heavy loads (unless you own BP then go for the V6 :cheesy: ) I'll agree with this. I often use our V6 to tow two motorbikes to circuits, and I have towed my 335i and hired trailer 250 miles back from Yorkshire too. I us...

Re: 1997 V6 Executive Saloon (Blue)

:? so whats the story, is this beauty still for sale? and whos selling it now if it is? been lookin out for a good v6. The car is physically with me, down near Swindon. I took it in "part-ex" from mjb as part of the deal on my Coupe. I am not a car trader, which is why I put the quote marks, but ca...

Re: tensioner / damper

hi martin - do you know what sort of bolt holds the tensioner roller on - mines a d 8 but cant imagine them being that different I did not remove the roller itself, just the complete 2 part (parts 3 & 5 in the diagram above) assembly. I would imagine the roller is held on by a circlip, but I did no...

Re: 1997 V6 Executive Saloon (Blue)

Martin, don't get rid of your other car whatever you do, you're a genuine credit to the 406 community! Well thank you, it was great to meet you too. If we do decide to sell Cath's V6, it will definately be replaced by another one - likely later estate. Still got to be a V6 manual though. Is that yo...

Re: Possible binding brake(s)

Matt, Really sorry to hear it did not feel perfect on the way home. I really do think it must be a D8/D9 difference, or perhaps an element of new car paranoia. The other option is my wife and I are sensitivity challenged of course  I strongly doubt binding brakes, the performance and economy a...

Re: 1997 V6 Executive Saloon (Blue)

Matt's car is down with me now, 10 miles west of Swindon. 'twas a sad day seeing the Coupe drive off. Anyone after a V6 really needs to come and take a look at this car, it is in lovely condition - Matt has really looked after it. Good service history, all the toys, a nice car. Lots of tempting pict...

Re: tensioner / damper

Neil,

If you have the patience to wade through a load of photos finding the right one, I did a how-to cambelt change and removing that aux-belt tensioner is part of the job. http://www.trackandrace.com/Workshop

Re: For Sale - 99/V 406 V6 manual Coupe £1,200 Wiltshire

We already have a 98 V6 saloon, my wife's family car and my towcar when I need to get the bikes to a track. Not greatly in need of another I'm afraid  If you wanted to p/ex it at a price where I could just eBay it and get my money back, then I'd be OK doing that for convenience. Trouble is, as ...

Well thank you, I have added a thread in the For Sale section. Time to start searching for a nice V6 manual late 406 or early 407 estate. They probably only ever sold 4 of each, so my search may be long and filled with disappointments

Re: Heres my 406,hope you like what iv done;)

I just wanted to say Wow, there is some amazing craftmanship gone into that. I am a bit older and like the original look myself, but I am in awe of the effort that went into making that. The bootlid in particular.
