Re: 2.2 fuel economy!!!

With that "generic" remap, your trip computer won't be reading accurately. Taking a look at the generic file that was floating around the coupe forum some time ago in WinOLS, its technically a VERY crap file. Yes it makes your car more powerful, but it's essentially taken out all the built in ECU sa...

Re: HDi 110 - Valeo solid flywheel conversion

You cant just put any old flywheel on or any old clutch!!! :cheesy: The Valeo conversion kit contains a flywheel and clutch that fits the engine / gearbox combination and also has the 60-2 teeth for the engine speed sensor. I've run with the solid flywheel now for over 35k miles and all is still fin...

Re: HDi 110 breaking rockers

Easiest solution is to get the mapping correct if you have a medium power remap! Lower the boost a bit and advance the injection timng, this should lower the exhuast manifold pressure to within acceptable limits. Essentially what happens in some maps is you are running increased boost and fuel, but ...

Re: HDi 110 breaking rockers

Ah this is a possibility... I have remapped it to about 140bhp and I ran into the follower problem on an early version of the map (Injection advance was too retarded at 4000rpm). However, that was about 10k miles ago. I suppose its not beyond the realms of possibility that it was weakened and has sl...

Re: HDi 110 breaking rockers

Odd - Found my 110 HDi had broken 2 rockers this weekend. Symptoms were a loud ticking at idle. Timing is spot on (It timed up perfectly when I took it apart). Replaced the 2 rockers (Cylinders 3 & 4, cant remember if inlet or exhaust) and all seems fine again touchwood. Cant work out for the life o...

Re: HDi 110 - Valeo solid flywheel conversion

Yes a remap is the next inline - I'm able to write that and install it myself so no cost involved there :cheesy:
I'll post some pictures up later on when I get home. They are not the best quality, but maybe useful non the less.

HDi 110 - Valeo solid flywheel conversion

Hey chaps and chapesses... Long time member just recently back into 406 ownership! I bought a 2003 HDi 110 Estate back in June, in 'S' level trim. Very nice condition, 70k miles and FSH. The only thing was a squeak from the flywheel \ clutch area when engaging the clutch or pulling away and a "buzzy...

Sorry dude, but the HDi 90's didnt have a dual mass flywheel as others on here have said, I've done enough clutch jobs on them to know!
110's from 1999 and the 2.2's had DMF's, not the 90.

I really don't mean to urinate on your fire....... Diesels don't run on "choke" as petrols do.... (Idle speed is increased when cold by advancing injection timing, not increasing fuelling!) They actually run more efficiently when the air is cooler. The actual reason why you get less MPG's in winter ...

No, the 110 doesnt have variable vane control. It has the same turbo as the 90HDi, except a different wastegate actaution method, which uses vacuum to control the wastegate. The 2.2 HDi certainly does have a variable vane turbo though!! Its one of those common internet myths, somebody see's it writt...

Funnily enough, the OE ones are LUK items! I've done 3 clutches on various HDi's now, 1 from main dealer (Was a LUK in a Peugeot box) and 2 from factors. (Same clutch as dealer!) The old clutches on the cars were stamped LUK too.... :!:

You get no boost on the 110 as the wastegate fails safe, in its normal position its open and is closed by the vacuum, so vacuum is applied to the valve when boost is required! The HDi 90 works in the normal old fashioned way with the wastegate opened by pressure. Bit odd if you ask me, all to do wit...

The above would be correct for the HDi 90, but not fot the 110. If you pull the actuator pipe off the 110 turbo you get zero boost. This is because the ECU controls the wastegate on the 110 by vacuum. On the 90 its the normal old fashioned pressure feed to the wastegate. :?
