Re: Engine Trouble
It's not leaking at the plastic pipe... the plastic pipe goes into an L shape adapter and then goes onto a rubber hose, the rubber hose then goes onto the fuel rail below the regulator. The fuel leak was at the L piece where the plastic bit is so i got a clip round that and tightened it and now i am...

Re: Engine Trouble
ANYONE BREAKING A 406 2.0 16v PETROL FOR SPARES :cheesy: The regulator is about 80+ vat and the local motor factor don't sell them, even tying to find a car breakers with the 2.0 16v engine is impossible. The ticking is too loud for injectors, i was thinking it may be the click from the air con comp...

I don't know if this helps to diagnose The car seems to respond better to partial throttle (still hesitates a little) but when i start opening the throttle more it starts to bog down as if i am flooding the engi...

Re: Engine Trouble
Hello again steve_earwig, no i have not blown through it yet. It was easier disconnecting the fuel return line from the spring clips down the back of the engine so i cant fit my head in between the gap  Must have a big head I will disconnect the line and pull under to try and check to see if th...

Re: Engine Trouble
Right tried today to diagnose the fuel pressure regulator today, i disconnected the fuel return and place it in a 2litre bottle and started engine. I got a steady flow about 2 litres every 30 seconds (which sounds about right). So i am confused as too why i am getting the high fuel pressure, is it u...

Re: PLEASE HELP Sunroof problem
That would be great steve_earwig
I would like to see where the silver metal rod goes to on the drivers side of the window ( can be seen when the back of window is up) The one on the passenger side is still intact but appears to sit in a different position to the other side.

Engine Trouble
I recently opened a thread about high fuel pressure and other symptoms like engine bogging down, since then i have still not resolved the issue so i thought i may ask again and see if there may be any help with the issue. Symptoms. 1. Engine hesitates (as if the cylinders get flooded) then pick's up...

Re: PLEASE HELP Sunroof problem
Hi sorry for the late reply It sounds a bit more complicated than just the motor packed up, I've not seen any diagram apart from the one on Service Box and I don't think that'll do you any favours as it's just the parts, not their relationship to each other. Haynes says leave it alone  which i...

PLEASE HELP Sunroof problem
With the weather being nice today i decided to open the sunroof but when in the middle of opening the motor started clicking and come off it's runners. I now have bits of linkages and brackets etc. Because the sunroof mechanism is hidden away my question is. Can you drop the full unit? Does anyone h...

Map sensor location
Hi have been trying to solve hesitation problems on my 1996 2.0 16v 406 I have been thinking that the fault may be with the map sensor, i have had problems with the fuel lines that go into the fuel rail slipping out due to high fuel pressure and initially thought it may be the fuel pressure regulato...

Re: Engine bogging down
Just an update, I think i may of found the problem. You will notice on the first post i mentioned that i fixed a fuel leak, the fuel was escaping from a small L piece just before the injector rail. I fixed that and re clamped the hose. Now there is more fuel escaping from the fuel line, i could smel...

Re: Engine bogging down
Thanks for the replies, it is very reluctant under the 3000rpm mark, and starts pulling stronger thereafter. Most things that i can think of would cause it throughout the rev range or just higher up the revs. It does sound like lambda symptoms, so i disconnected that and still the same. Checked air ...

Re: Engine bogging down
Sorry, yes petrol 16v Do these engines rely on the map sensors as apposed to air flow meters, Alfa's common problem is Maf but cant see one on these engines. It is strange, it now idles fine after cleaning the idle control valve, I can rev to the red line with no problems but as soon as the engine i...
