Sprak plug socket
Right, this is probably me being extremley thich, but what the heck size socket do I need to replace the spark plugs on this thing (2.0l petrol d8)? I know I need an extension as the sparks are hidden down a hole, but what size (in mm) socket do I need. I've tried all the 'normal' spark sockets I ha...

Re: 1996 406 Petrol 2.0 Turbo Exec - car / spares (Now with Pics
Hello How many keys do you have for this, and does the central locking work? If you have both keys, and they work the central locking, then I'd be interested in the complete lock set (both doors, ignition barrell, boot lock (for a saloon) and the associated gubbins, deadlock ECU, central locking ECU...

Re: Oil sump plug
Got the right size socket, but it seems the last person who changed the oil did the sump plug up far too tight. It won't budge. Looks like a trip to a local garage on monday with some beer money and get them to put it on a ramp and get some proper leverage on the damn thing. Oh well, so as not to ha...

Oil sump plug
Thought I would do a quick oil change on the 406 (r reg d8, 2.ol glx), but was foiled by the sump plug. What the heck size is it? None of my sockets fit it properly, and I can't find any bits in my toolbox that fit into the centre of it properly either. Before I jack it up for a proper look, (I was ...

Does the remote central locking work, and do you have both keys?
If you do, I would be interested. I'm trying to get both door locks, ignition barrel, boot lock, two working plip keys, the central locking ECU and deadlick ECU, and the central locking receiver.

Re: Replace handbrake shoes & cable
I got 16% too; as Poddack says about 3 hours to do the job. I got 15% on the original test. Took the wheels off and adjusted the shoes using the adjusters (poking a screwdrived through the hole in the hub), and tighteneg the cables as much as I could. The MOT guy didn't think I had actually done an...

Replace handbrake shoes & cable
My 406 (2l petrol d8) just scraped through its MOT retest with handbrake efficiency of 16%
That is after I tightened up the adjusters, and seriously tightened the cables up. So it's time to replace the lot.
Who here has done this, and how long did it take to do?

Re: towing attatchment
Just been and had a look, and there is no thread at all in the hole on the back. I guess it's rusted up, and been used before and taken the thread clean out.

Re: towing attatchment
I might give that a go then.mjb wrote:I've had the same result on a couple of 406s. I hammer it in hard then use a breaker bar to screw it in
It does look a bit rusty underneath, and the eye is just a little bit too gig to push in on its own.

towing attatchment
I needed to tow a friends car today, but couldn't. I got the tow hook attachment out of the boot, and removed the flap from the rear bumper, but the tow hook/eye thing wouldn't fit. It fits fine into the socket on the front of the car though. Is there supposed to be a different attachment for the re...

Re: 406 SRi Turbo breaking
Is this a D8 or D9? If it's a D8, do you have a full set of keys (at least two keys with working remote)? If you have then I would be interested in getting hold of the two keys, the ignition, the two door locks, boot lock, glove box lock, and the central locking ECU, deadlock ECU and central locking...

Re: breaking 2.1TD
Do you have, and would you consider selling the keys (hopefully two remote keys which work), the door locks, boot lock, ignition barrell, central locking ecu and deadlock ecu?
