Had same symptoms on my HDi 90 at 70k and 140k, both times It was release bearing and the fork also needed replacing

Yes I believe it's normal, mine has a pipe that hangs loose as well.

When I fitted a towbar to my 2001 estate I used a normal wiring kit and scotch blocked to the loom. I
haven't had any issues, trailer lights all working ok and no adverse effects to the cars electrics

A friend of mine has an engine preheater fitted to his Triumph Stag. He hasn't had any problems with it.

I do general checks as others, bulbs, wipers etc. Also give it an oil and filter change as it's usually due anyway around MOT time.
