Re: Tyre 'Insurance' pays off....
Glad you got it sorted, sounds like you did well with that policy.... Knowing my luck I wouldn't have a puncture for 2 years, only when the policy finishes I would get one :) Some Kwik-fit's can be ok, there are some dodgy ones around. There is a place called Hi-Q near me, it's a bit like Kwik-fit.....

406 Coupe V6
Hi all, I've recently sold my 205 and now looking to replace it. I currently have a 406 Saloon and carn't fault it... Only cost £250 not had a ounce of trouble with it. I'm looking at getting a 406 Coupe V6, is there anything to look out for? I can imagine replacing the cambelt/waterpump is an expen...

Re: Whining and clicking noise
Don't think it's the bearing, that would do it all the time even when stationary until the clutch is pressed. I'll change the oil and let you know the outcome......

Is this the stuff?
Ah ok, aslong as its nothing that requires fettling
Thanks,
Dan

Whining and clicking noise
Hi all, I've got a bit of whining possibly from the gearbox. Driving along, press the clutch in and it stops. Release it and the whining comes back.... It's not really loud, but you can hear it at low speeds. Could changing the gearbox oil help? It has done a fair few miles so I don't expect it to b...

Hi all,
Any ideas if the calipers, discs and pads off a Turbo are the same as a 2.0?
Thanks,
Dan

Re: Noise when in gear
It could the bearing on the input shaft on the gearbox. I had this on a BE3 box I put on my 205.... Is it like a whiring noise? Press the clutch and you hear the noise, release the clutch and it goes?

Re: Noise when in gear
Is it all gears or just the one? I had a similar problem with a 406 I once drove for someone. It only did it in third, turned out it was the nut coming off the first motion shaft  I was read a post the other day on a 205 forum about gearbox's and nuts being loose. Apparently when certain gea...

Re: Has my car got On Board Diagnostics?
I use to have a OBD2 reader that plugged into a PC, got it from Scantool.net where you can also download a free version of the scanning software. A couple of weeks ago I used one similar to this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OBD2-OBDII-OBD-USB-Interface-Scanner-Scan-tool-CAN-BUS_W0QQitemZ280365834018QQcmdZV...

Re: Bottom pulley & cambelt change
Don't say that! It's perfectly fine... It's staying on and thats final
It just felt like a new water pump before fitting, felt a little tight like they do, no play in the shaft... seemed ok to me

Bottom pulley & cambelt change
Hi all, Yesterday I did the cambelt on my 2.0 16v 406... When I tried to time up the bottom pulley the outer part of the pulley has moved causing the timing hole to be in the wrong place when the cams are timed up. The rubber has perished sightly, what is the chances of the outer part of the pulley ...
