Has anyone removed the crankcase breather hose's on this engine (XU7JP4) and replaced them?
car is a 1996 and getting a bit of oil from the filler cap, was thinking the breather might be blocked causing this. The hose's are rock hard and not flexible is this normal?

Thanks for reply. I'm not sure it is a solid pulley, it looks to me like this one which has the rubber insert.

Need advice please re 406 1.8L 16v 1996. Petrol Engine is sounding very rough lately and cant really pin it down. Noticed its not doing it this morning from cold start. Began missing and hesitating as it got warmed up.
A friend who used to work at peugeot garage said coil packs on these didnt fail much at all.

Thanks for reply. I took throttle housing off and cleaned and checked throttle potentiometer but it seems ok to me, refitted still same. Someone said oxygen sensor so i took it out to check it on multimeter but not sure what reading it should give me. Heater resistance is ok on 2 pins and get about ...

Merry christmas. In need of a bit of advice please. A 1.8l 16 valve XU7JP4 engine petrol cuts out when you take foot off accelerator. It will start and rev smoothly just will not idle. Was going to check plugs and throttle position sensor. Anyone had this problem before? Am i looking in right place....

Hi all, just doing a timing belt change on 1996 1.8l 16 valve. Got a Dayco belt kit and changing the tensioner and also the idler pulley but i cant see anywhere that gives a torque value for the idler pulley bolt. Not in haynes manual. Any info anyone please? Thanks for ideas. I'm confident at doing brake work, just my luck the unions wouldnt shift. Cutting pipe off and using a good socket will be my next attempt. Didnt think of re-routing the pipes though i'll have another look. cheers.
