Re: How to I reset my ECU
Tried disconnecting battery for an hour but it didn't reset! When I owned a Fiat tempra, which also had a Magnetti Marelli ECU, I had to "start engine (don't touch throttle)then wait until cooling fan comes on and off twice then switch off, disconnect battery and wait 20 mins. Then reconnect battery...

Rough, slow idling problem
My 406 is a 1999 V reg 2.0 petrol engined (EW) . When idling the engine is lumpy and hovers at around a little over 650-700rpm. When I stop at traffic lights, it idles at this speed and either cuts out OR the engine management light comes on. The car is also sluggish normally at between 1000-2500rpm...

2 litre petrol EW engine - power loss
I have a really nasty flat spot at low revs. It picks up great at 2500 revs and above but is pretty bloody sluggish before that. If I slap my foot to the floor on the throttle at idling the revs take ages to come in - not an immediate response. I've changed the map sensor, lambda sensor and got a ne...

Its mounted on the gearbox just above one of the drive shafts as they come out of the gearbox. Can't remember if its left or right now.

Re: Anyone know a good mechanic in cardiff area?
I have taken all my cars to this guy in cardiff. he is totally trustworthy and does an excellent job at unbeatable prices! His garage (he is also an authorised MOT tester) is in Beresford Lane, Roath. Tel number 20458008. Beresford lane is just by the Royal Oak pub off Newport road. Can't recommend ...

Re: Temp reading on multifunction display is wrong!
Thanks for that advice. I'm not too worried about an incorrect reading then if it doesn't affect my mpg figures.

Temp reading on multifunction display is wrong!
Hi. 2.0 petrol V reg saloon. The temp display on my multifucntion display is suddenly wrong. When the outside temp was around plus 2 degrees yesterday it displayed minus 5 degrees. Also, I noticed that it seems to be using a lot more petrol than usual. Any link here?? I had a new cat (front end exha...

2L petrol misfire??
I'm having some problems with my 2.0 petrol EW engine. Its a V reg. When I am cruising (not as in George Michael) along with my foot on the throttle so that its almost on/almost off, I get a slight but constant engine judder which feels like a misfire but it isn't! That make sense folks? This is par...

replacing starter motor - 2litre petrol EW.
How much of a job is this? Can't even see the bloody thing right now. When I turn the ignition key to start there's an awful loud niose almost like a loud clicking noise (not the quiet click the solenoid gives) and it lasts as long as you have the key turned to start. When this is happening, the aux...

Re: Has my car got On Board Diagnostics?
I think you have both misunderstood my initial question guys. I simply want to know if my car has OBD or not. I am not interested in getting a scanner or software or indeed going to a dealer to get it done. Cheers folks.

Has my car got On Board Diagnostics?
When I've recently gone to buy parts for my December '99 V reg 2litre petrol,Ive been asked if the car has OBD or not. What does this mean? There is a socket inside the car on the drivers side dash - is that what it means??? Sorry to be a bit dull here!
