Peugeot 406 HDI Automatic

Would anyone happen to know the exact date Peugeot launched the 406 HDI autos, can you get a Y plate one? Have only seen 51 plates onwards. Did they all come with the later steering wheel stalk controls?

Cheers

Re: D8 mileometer and clock illumination?

Just the digital clock on top of the dash, and the dual mileometer/trip meter under the speedo. The actual dimmable dashboard display (rev counter/speedo etc) lights are fine.

Re: cruise control

My D8 2.0 petrol Executive Auto has cruise control, it was fitted on some D8 GLXs and all Exec autos. Very useful it is to...

D8 mileometer and clock illumination?

Morning all, anyone help with this one? The illumination for my 1998 Exec dashboard clock, and mileometer/odometer went recently at the same time, although both displays are working if you peer at them very closely. I tried replacing the clock with another, same problem; and also replacing the clock...

Re: D8 v D9

All this is kinda encouraging. Having a 1998 D8 Executive 2.0 Auto, it seams I may have the best of the breed for build and reliability (auto gearbox notwithstanding.) I used to sell these all through the nineties and remember when the 406 came out; everyone at the dealerships just couldn't believe ...

D8 v D9

This is a great forum and I've learnt a lot having read lots of the posts. the consensus seems to be that D8s are better than D9s, is this really the case? I havn't seen an actual post which compares the two versions, although I may have missed it. Could anyone explain the principal differences (I k...

Re: 406 2.0 Executive Automatic 1998

405 used the old 8v 2.0 litre engine, better suited to an auto box in my opinion. I've kept the 405 for emergency (!) use as I love it, though the 406 is growing on me every day. I should know how good they are as I used to sell new Pugs in the nineties.

406 2.0 Executive Automatic 1998

Hi all, Thought I'd share my experience with my latest acquisition, a 406 Exec Auto 1998. From reading this forum I can see automatics aren't that popular, and even having experienced only a couple of month's ownership I already know of the reputation of this AL4 auto gearbox. Bought this outwardly ...
