Re: Bottom Engine mount
Glad you got it sorted. Was going to say I have a spare driveshaft seal if you needed one if you decided to take the driveshaft route. I didnt need it as my mates garage had a special tool for pressing in the mount. It took longer for them to get the trays off from underneath then it did to swap ove...

Re: Oil leak?
are you sure its oil and not diesel.
I had a leak there aswell, it was 1 of the injectors that had worked loose. I carefully tightened it with the engine off, and touch wood all has been fine since.

Re: Power steering resevoir leak
Take the ecu and box off, it makes it loads easier to get to. I knew mine was leaking somewhere suspecting the join. For some unknown reason I decided to wrap the pipe in hose repair tape. It has fixed coolant pipes in the past so thought Id give it ago. It fixed the leak for about 2 months. Needles...

Re: Guard your cats!
Not much in the 406 cats apparently though.
For your house cats how about mother care window limiters.
We have them and a fridge safe to stop it going in the fridge to nab food.

Re: Minor Spring Irritation
Pi springs......lovely. Just keep your eye on them, Ive had friends who have had numerous problems on various cars because they have opted for this brand. Snapping, going out of shape etc. Are you sure the sound was not there before the springs were fitted? as most cars I have drive with PAS make a ...

Re: Engine mounts...
Cant for the life of me remember how, as I was there when they did it, but the garage I took mine to for the bottom mount changed it without taking the driveshaft out. They undid a few bits, cut the old one out, pressed the new one in. The longest part of the job was getting the undertrays off. I di...

Re: K&N Induction Kits
Dont feel silly. Its something you wanted to find out about. At the end of the day it is all about personal preference. If these items did serious damage then Im sure they wouldnt be allowed to be sold. Its more the damage they could potentially do over a long period of time. I have had a green encl...

Re: K&N Induction Kits
Friend of mine tested a stock intake, green enclosed, K&N panel and Max Pooer indutction kit on the dyno. Not suggesting any reasons why this happened but a large fan was used as with all dyno runs. Power: 1st Max Pooer 2nd Green Enclosed 3rd K&N panel 4th Stock Although as mentioned to get the bene...

Re: K&N Induction Kits
And how does it negatively affect fuel consumption? I had thought that if a performance filter is supposed to increase the efficiency of the engine, you would receive more power for the same amount of fuel (thereby requiring less of a heavy foot on the gas pedal to achieve the same speed). If the i...

Re: K&N Induction Kits
Really doesnt cost that much extra to declare modifications so its worth it in the long run. (Prices are approximate) I pay £600 a year for the 406 standard 1 years NCB with elephant I pay £200 a year for the saxo with all mods declared with full NCB with HIC (Body changes, seats, Custom engine, sus...

Re: £20 universal induction kit
Induction kits give more power during testing and rolling road days because they usually have the bonnet open and a huge fan blowing air at it. The enclosed type ones are much better as they usually duct air from the front of car to the filter, but as mentioned they tend not to filer as well as OEM ...
