Re: HDi Cold starting rough...

Thanks peeps, I'll get hold of a filter, and some injector cleaner, then have a look at the glow plugs this weekend.

Any recommended injector cleaners out there or is Red-ex Diesel OK?

HDi Cold starting rough...

The cold weather seems to be giving my 406 some rough running while the engines cold. For the first min or two you need to run it at slightly faster than idle, just to maintain the engine running. Soon as its been running for 5 mins and gets warmer the engines fine, just that cold start things causi...

Re: Electric window that won't close at speed

Noep, they'll just make it worse. I fitted wind deflectors to my D8 and it now almost closes the window then opens it fully, never had this happen once when I didn't have them fitted. Quite annoying when buzzing along on country roads/dual carriageway (all we get up here). Had the same thing happen...

Re: Heated Mirrors, not working....

40 quids for a mirror? scandalous, you can get a whole mirror unit for that on ebay...

Is there a connector for the mirror motor/heating cables inside the door, under the plastic cover? Could check with a test lamp there for heater power supply.

Electric window that won't close at speed

Strange but true, when I get over 55-60 and up :D my drivers electric window wont close, it gets almost to being closed then opens up 2-3" I know this is the facility to stop kids trapping their fingers in the windows, and probably caused by the increased air pressures at higher speeds. I either hav...

Heated Mirrors, not working....

Hi, the recent cold weather has brought another new thing to light on my 406. The heated mirrors dont heat, not a sausage. The elements in the rear screen that are sitll working or have been repaired get hot enough to de-ice, so I know part of the system is working. Firstly am I correct to presume t...

Like they said, probably the stat, and the weather going colder, so the engine temps will take a lot longer to get warm.

Re: 406 3.0L Estate - New Car, New Problems

Check the oils first, if there is still no joy, then have a look at the crank pulley (its bolted on the end of the crank, and drives the aux belt, so its just bolt off, bolt on to replace), there will be metal flecks round it. If it is the crank pulley, and it does go, then the pulley will break up ...

Re: HDI timing belt, eloys, FAP, etc....

Timing belt's a piece of wee-wee. But there are a couple of other bits should really be done at the same time as the belt and rollers: Water pump, Crankshaft pulley, Aux belt, and maybe the crankshaft oil seal depending on condition. If your mate or even you are willing to get some grease on your el...

Its the Connects2 setup you need to still work the remote and display, and you can only use sony head units for this.

D8/D9 is the radio fit the same?

Sorry if I'm being docile here... Is the radio slot in the centre console that went in the 406 the same over the model run? I'm going ahead with fitting a new head unit in the new year to integrate the ipod touch I'll be getting this xmas, and the obvious starting point is the hole in the dash that ...
