Yes somthing exactly like that :) and on the wiring, as primitive as it gets bimetallic flasher unit, no chips involved, and the only relay in the vehicle is for the glow plugs, and thats only because the relay and the engine are from a car made in 1993  not even the headlights etc use relays,...

More progress, even if some of it is just a sticker, changed the lights also, the bracket for them are a tad ROTTEN though, so might struggle to angle them properly for mot lol Oh, and rewired all the front lights, the horn (no longer in the civic im afraid) and the washer jets, had to cut them all ...

Re: 20 second mod on an HDI
Its the EGR control solonoid. EGR is there for cleaner emissions (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) It just takes some of the exhaust gasses out the exhaust, puts them back in the inlet and reburns them. I wouldnt damage the engine in anyway doing this, but i would be surprised if it didnt put the engine f...

Has the 2 litre petrol got a throttle pot?
I know the HDI does as theyre drive by wire
Didnt think the petrols did though, mine is just throttle cable right onto the throttle body. Correct me if im wrong of course lol

Re: TD into a HDi?
The landy would probably have won with the original engine before it was swapped lol, it didnt have a trip computer being so old so dont know the instant mpg but it worked out at 15mpg average.

It's a smoke test, the equipment used for all diesel tests is exactly the same, there are different limits, but it's the same test. The same test equipment is also used for testing petrol cars, which are not smoke tested for obvious reasons. They use a 4 gas analyser Which looks for Hydrocarbons (u...

Re: Remap or Chip
I wouldnt touch those chips to be honest, as steve said the chip just tricks the car into keeping the fuel pressure high, which will be bad for the life of your high pressure pump. it will also be bad for you fuel economy, the pumps have 3 cylinders that provide the pressure to your injectors, the g...

Failleeedddd
Front brake balance, delaminated numberplate, wipers
This is all
And it PASSED emissions, which i wasnt expecting, due to the lumpy idle and all.
I never got around to changing that temperature sensor llol.

Re: De-cat advice
Cool, just a warning thats all
But as other people say, turbo will spool up faster with a decat, diesels you want no back pressure at all, unlike petrol engine.
All back pressure creates is lag.

Re: De-cat advice
The main thing that will happen when you do it is (unless your car is made before 1993 on a petrol or 1999 on a diesel, so 1.9TD or 2.1TD but not HDi) is you will NOT pass you M.O.T Won't make any difference to the diesel mot test, the diesel test is only a smoke test. If your car is manufactured a...
