Re: Just serviced my HDi 90

I've had fun and games when changing my fuel filter on the same engine - kept stalling sometimes after 5 seconds and sometimes after a couple of minutes - thought there was a problem with solenoids etc but took it for a blast on the motorway for 20 miles and the problem sorted itself out - I'm assum...

irrelevant in this case as the engine threw a rod due to the valve breaking and hitting the top of the piston at 2500rpm - I'm just trying to explain what would/could happen if a valve had broken on the hdi engine.

Re: 406 HDi timing belt change caused dropped valve?

I had a major engine problem a few years ago ( rod through block ) when a garage changed my belt on an older c15 engine - when I collected the car after having the belt done I thought it was a bit tappety but power seemed OK'ish - I did query this with the mechanic but he said it sounded OK to him -...

'chip' instead of mapping?

Does anyone have experience of buying a 'chip' instead of mapping? - bought one for my Passat and it went really well and a lot cheaper - thanks in advance

replacing fuel pump/sender on hdi

need to change the fuel pump/sender unit on my 2001 90bhp hdi estate - although there is an inspection cover under the rear seat it looks a bit too small to remove the pump - is that correct and if so any probs removing tanks from underneath?

cheers

Re: How do I bypass the limp home mode

I bought one of these - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 3465396025 - works fine and clears limp mode but you should solve the problem rather than keep taking the headache tablets!

Re: Anyone running HDi's fueled by diesel "Alternatives"

Diagnostic code reader

Hi - new to the forum but not vehicles - I've recently bought a 2001 406 hdi (90bhp) estate and it came with the fault 'anti pollution' - I've read some of the posts relating to this but seems like I need to take it into a local dealer to find out the cause - my local Peugeot guy wants £30 to plug i...
