Re: number plate light replacement - estate
Sorry for the delay on this answer, but I've just solved this problem on my own 02 reg 406 estate. If you open the tailgate, look under the handle, you'll see the 2 light units. To remove the caps and get to the bulbs just place the tip of a tiny ( watchmakers ) screwdriver in one of the 2 holes in ...

Door mirror glass
Hi, I expect everyone else already knows this, but, how do I fit a new glass to my passenger side ( British ) door mirror. I have a genuine S/H glass with the backing and circular clip. Is there a special way to do this?

Re: 2002 key fob re-sync
Thamks for that. It all makes sense now. Looks like it's a trip to the dealer after all. re-syncing of fobs ... Could it be that I have bought a fob I think you're confusing 'coding'/'programming' with 're-syncing' here. Keys are made with a unique code, and that code is programmed into the car in t...

2002 key fob re-sync
I know this subject has been covered at great length, but there seems to be a difference between the re-syncing of fobs in early and late model 406's. Mine is a 2002 estate and the usual turn ignition on......press big button....... scenario does not work. Could it be that I have bought a fob of unk...

It's either a XU (8-valve) or EW (16-Valve), in my 1.8i it is the EW engine. If you can take a picture, i would be able to let you know asap.
It's definately a 16 valve, so it looks like EW it is.

1.8 petrol engine types
OK so I'm new to the forum, & I expect the answer to my question is common knowledge to everyone else. But here goes. I've got a 2002 1.8 petrol 406 estate LX. My brand new shiny Haynes manual talks about EW, XU and many other kinds of engines possibly fitted to my car. But what have i got....... I ...
