I have a D9 HDI90 that won't idle properly. The revs will vary from 1k-1.5k seemingly at random. It does this in and out of gear, so when driving along off the throttle it will tend to try and surge forward. It does this even when warmed up.
Any ideas?

From a D8 v6 to a D9 HDI90
I have just replaced my sadly non-MOTed V6 D8 with an LX D9 HDI90. Now the V6 had full electric cream leather interior that would have been nice to transplant into the silver D9, but the colour won't go, and I understand the elctrics are vastly different. Is there anything I *can* transfer from the ...

Re: Loud squeeling when cold
Got it, had to drive to Exeter to pick up the nearest part (it was that or Chissick). Fitted new lower pulley and my car is quiet again!

Re: Loud squeeling when cold
Progress! While messing around with the tensioner to see if it was ok and finding it is in near perfect condition, I saw that the lower pulley has perished and is not properly driving the belt. Anyone know what the part number is that I need?

Re: Loud squeeling when cold
Yeah that's the first thing I did. Is there any way of measuring the tension of the belt or do I just need to replace the tensioner? Without knowing how tight it needs to be, it seems pretty tight to me.

Re: Loud squeeling when cold
Well, time goes on and the noise gets more prominent. It stays noisy now when revs get low even when warmed up. I tried changing the PAS pump with one off ebay, and bled the system while changin it but still have the exact same problem. I'm almost certain the problem comes from the power steering be...

Replacing PAS Pump
I need to replace my PAS Pump, and would like to do it as cheaply as possible. I have found a couple of candidates on Ebay, but how do I ensure I get the right one. I have a D8 V6, but will the newer pump fit?

Re: Drive shaft joint problem
Wow thanks guys, very detailed responses! I'm hoping to have a new car tomorrow to give me a chance to take this one off the road and do some work on it. Also need to replace the power steering pump as it locks up under load causing the Aux belt to stop turning and squeeling like a pig being murdered.

Re: Drive shaft joint problem
Hmm now that you mention it there is some vibration on hard acceleration. The noise I get is a weird one when you go over large bumps slowly, such as a sleeping policemen. I have quickly checked the suspension links and nothing seems loose. The damper and spring seem ok. What kind of job is replacin...
