Re: floppy indicator stalk

http://www.qdi-ltd.co.uk/davcom2000.html Did one myself and it was straight forward enough, took about an hour and a half including removal from car, comm unit repair and refitting. Worked perfectly and you're not waiting for it to be returned and it saves a few quid. Locating the clips for the airb...

Re: 406 HDI vacuum issue?

Could be a loss of vacuum anywhere in the circuit, cheapest option first would be change the hoses and see if it cures it. Shouldn't be any more than £5 for the pipe from a motor factors.

Re: VW caught cheating US emissions tests

I'm wondering whether the DVLA will be sending letters to VW owners to say your £30 a year car will cost you £200 from now on??? There is also the question of owners who've had a car for a few years can now take it back to VW and ask for a full refund as they were miss sold a car due to it's adverti...

Re: Volvo Question

Thanks Dai and all for the responses, he's probably going to be 'losing' the Dpf/EGR and gaining a few more horses once the manufacturers warranty expires unless the VW fiasco tightens up the MoT even further. Out of curiosity have they modified the sump plug location on newer models to avoid leavin...

Re: Volvo Question

Dai,

The Pug setup is turbo right at the front with DPF directly underneath it, airbox positioned in a really awkward to get at 'out of sight, out of mind' position right at the back of the engine.
Sound familiar?

Volvo Question

A mate of mine has just signed the paperwork on a 13 plate C30 1.6 diesel which I believe uses the Ford/PSA DV6 engine.
Does anyone know if Volvo also use the same Eolys FAP system or is there's passive?

Thanks as always

Gareth

Re: Bonnet open; confused neighbour

Pretty sure you could buy a cheap trolley jack, some stands and a generic wind back tool plus discs and pads for just over the £100 mark. IIRC my aldi jack cost about £20 (always use stands so wasn't bothered about an expensive jack), Halfords ratchet stands were about £25. Don't own a wind back too...

Re: A tough act to follow

I believe it was done on Aussie outback roads or something similar, bang straight roads with little to no elevation change. Get it up to optimum speed for economy, engage cruise and away you go. My 2.2 regularly indicated 900+MPG on the way down the hill I live on  (admittedly it was in the low...

Re: If you had the time and money......

I see your point Doggy and in a hyperthetical world I'd agree but if I was actually going to do it I'd prefer the mechanicals to be shiny and new including the suspension parts. I believe the 508 GT's flappy paddle box is pretty good...and who wouldn't want a HUD and 2 turbo's? :cheesy: I'd also be ...

If you had the time and money......

I recently watched one of the many American car customising programmes that have appeared on TV where they took a new muscle car (charger I think, wasn't really paying attention) and slapped an early model body on it. Now sitting here musing to myself about taking a nice new 508 GT 2.2 HDI 200 BHP, ...

Re: ECU Error P380 - Wastegate Solenoid Failure HELP!!!

I believe the turbo and EGR solenoids are the same so try swapping them over and see what happens. Theoretically you should then have an EGR fault which as long as it doesn't throw an EML and limp mode you can live with.

Re: Diesel Diesel Diesel!

My old 1.9 ran sweetly on veg oil with a hint of pump diesel but I never risked anything but derv in the HDI.
A HDI thats running well should give good enough economy to not run the risk of killing the car IMHO.

Re: Cheapest Way to Obtain Youtube/Digital Music Through Hi-

That's pure bovine manure. No one can hear the difference between a £2 El-Cheapo minijack to RCA lead and one that costs £200. Literally no one. Cables of sufficient current-carrying ability have no audible effect on an audio signal. If they do, they are by definition defective and you should get y...

Re: Help please on a part!

Ben,
One of the guys at work changed the ignition barrel on a 307 with one from a breaker and ended up having to fit the transponder ring as well to get it to start, whether you could reprogramme with Planet or not I'm not sure.
I doubt they'd fit different parts to petrol or diesel tho?
