Re: The Big Summer Meet thread, confirmed 20th August

All good mate. Still driving (& earning £5k more than I did managing). New house still in 1 piece, but the builders bodge signs are all starting to show themselves now. Also still got the Zafira - 4 years now, doubling the previous record held by my 406 & only just hit 80k. Got eyes out for another ...

Re: The Big Summer Meet thread, confirmed 20th August

Hi guys. Been a while, but thought I'd pop back for a nostalgia moment as Jack & I took a trip to Gaydon today. He's totally mad on Lego (as those of you that have me on Facebook have probably seen) & they're having a Brick Week with Lego activities. Didn't get too many pics this time either as even...

Re: Any ideas about this one?

Possible battery/charging problem? Not sure how relevant it is, but only time mine ever flashed the "ECONOMY MODE ACTIVE" message was when I'd clean it & leave the stereo on for a few hours & I think economy mode is its way of preventing the battery going flat.

If you can find one, a Zenith or X-line model doesn't have a troublesome particle filter fitted.

Re: Manual Gearbox - what is the point?

Doesn't mess the brakes up at all. You just stick it in gear & use the air brake in the same way as you would a handbrake on a hill start - you just do a few of them!

Re: Manual Gearbox - what is the point?

even if it does change gear 6 times in 100 yards and way to early, but when you get to a hill it stays in 12th gear until it nearly stalls, then drops to 10th ( nearly stalls.. ) then to 6th gear and will either stall or then drop to 2nd gear and lurch forward, then immediately change up to 6th, an...

If you can't find a 7 seat 406, just buy a normal estate & do the conversion. If you don't fancy that, you can easily pick up a diesel Zafira & £1500 should still get a nice one.

Re: Ebay Etc. Just "Run-In" 406s

Funnily enough the paintwork stood out as abused to me because it's wet, but the water is sitting on the bonnet looking almost soaked into it in the way that it only does on paintwork that hasn't been polished in a long long time. Still reckon it has potential though. Maybe just not quite worth clos...

I reckon that has potential. Good service, deFAP & a new bumper (probably cheaper to buy a matching one from a breaker) & it'd be a potential classic.

Peugeot 406 COUPE RARE CAR WITH ONLY 36000 MILES !!! 2.2 2003 SE LEATHER http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/z/o70AAOSwsB9WEmUi/$_57.JPG That looks like some heavy wear on the edge of that drivers seat for a car that hasn't done many miles. Reckon it's done a lot of very short town trips, so whi...

Re: Ebay Etc. Just "Run-In" 406s

Good to see you, mjb, haven't seen you post in a while! How's things with you? I'm told the various motors for each of the two front seats make them considerably heavier than the manual versions When MarkW had my front seats out for repairing the heating elements, they seemed to weigh an absolute t...

There's a guy at my work keeps spotting that one & contemplating it, but he really wants an S as he doesn't want an SE. Keep telling him to go for it as the leather is really comfy, but he's determined to get an S as he had one before.

Glad I've got an old one now. But might be able to pick up a cheap 150bhp cdti one soon now.

Re: Check out your old motor (MOT check site)

I'm bloody fuming. My 406 cost me £2-300 every MOT that I had it, but once I sold it on it sailed through every one - check X745EBY (the original registration). It's now on over 140k.
